Just curious, what some of the recent ex-speed 3 owners are/will be driving now?
Did you switch because of boredom, practicality, witness protection?? :)

I'm not an ex-MS3 owner obviously, but when I get my bike my MS3 will basically become my winter beater. Does that still count? :chuckle

Well, it all depends on how much cash I have when I buy it. If I'm low on cash I'll get a new Ninja 250. If I have a decent amount of cash I'll get a used SV650. I'm probably going to have to wait until 2011 to get it, though. Since I started my apprenticeship I had to take a pretty large pay cut. =(

Currently driving a 2005 Acura TL.
Got rid of the MS3 because I was in need of cash, so I downsized/downgraded to a high mileage vehicle.
I love the TL, but I sure do miss my MS3.

I owned an SV650 ('02) for a little over 5 years.
One of the best bikes ever made. It is great for newbies, and EXCELLENT on the track for experts. I cannot count how many 1000 cc supersports I have smoked through deals gap, and how many supersports I stuffed at the track. That bike will make you a better rider, just don't be tempted to sell it too soon. I wish I never sold mine. The 600's are more than enough if you ever NEED to upgrade. My 600 is kind of a track slut, I want another SV650 for racing though. I love passing guys on way faster bikes.
It is FAR more gratifying to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow. 600's have more potential than I will EVER master. I don't personally know anyone who has really mastered a 600, and I have been on the the track regularly with Canada's fastest racers.
As for the 250....do yourself a favor, save up a little longer and buy something older, but is faster, I love the smaller, slower bikes, but that 250 will cost you in the end, you will want to sell it after a year. It is much less work to buy an SV650 to begin with, than to find a nice 250, buy it, get bored, sell it, find an SV650, buy it etc etc.
anywho. Back on topic.
(DANG I want another SV650....)

I'll revive my own post.
Old car: 2007 Speed 3
Reason for selling: practicality - we wanted a larger, awd, more comfortable vehicle for family outings, ski trips, etc
Do I miss it? YES. Mainly on on-ramps and parking lots! :)
Am I regreting my decision? NO.
If I could, I would have kept it as my daily driver in the summer.

dont really miss the speed - i got almost all the power i need and the power that's missing i'll get sooner or later. handling is amazing and i don't remember what torque steering feels like lol plus there's still a speed in my garage, im just not really tempted to drive it anymore.
the only thing that i'm occasionally lacking is the passenger space, but that's not an issue when there are 2 other 4 door cars in the household.

Went to a 08 Civic Si. Love it much more then the 3 i had. More parts, better handling, and much quicker around corners and straightaways.
Then switch to 2010 STI. Got even more power but handling is not as good as the civic but better then the 3 (after coilovers are put on). Do i miss the 3? I did miss it after the civic because its much more practical then my 2dr civic and its a lot more comfortable then my STI now. But the only thing about the 3 is the lack of parts available and needs a little more power.

335i now
Got rid of MS3 to a beater because at the time, it made sense financially, my traffic commute was killing me with that notchy but indirect gearbox, on/off clutch, harsh ride, thin steering, exhaust drone in the 2000's rpm. I used to arrive at work a lot more fustrated and cranky. I'm A LOT calmer now arriving to work even if I do stupid things on the road. The egronomics is also strange for me in the mazda, my right leg tend to lean onto the console and it hurts after long drives, that problem went away with the car.

do I miss it: 98% of the time no, but once in a bluemoon I do, 1% of the time I miss how mechanically involving it is to drive when you're really going at it all out even tho its slower than my current car. My current car feels like a heavy dead fish when driving it at 10/10 in comparision. Sometimes the MS3 likes to do a lot of the stupid things to bite you in the a$$ if you don't know what you're doing with DSC off. The other 1% of the time is when I go to costco and buy tall items.
MS3 is like a bit of a drama queen to me. Always wants attention, annoying when you're tired and when you're in the mood and feed it... the fun begins

ms3 cut corners up a lot better than the type s does, but the consistent power (albeit much less) every day regardless of the weather is nice vs. the hit and miss attitude the ms3 has with weather changes.... that and high revs/peak output at redline keep the type s amusing despite its serious torque disadvantage. I miss the headroom the most though lol

James, you should have kept the MS3 and got a used van on the side instead of buying an expensive Civic.

My friend has a RSX type S and after he drove my 2010 MS3 he was like "umm maybe?". Too bad he doesn't have the cash or he would have, or a Genesis Coupe (he's korean after all hehe). He just loves the torque on the MS3. Handling wise, well the 2010 is sharp but unless one goes to the track you can't tell the difference much day to day.

We got the used van on the side lol but for work I needed a car that meet the corporate vehicle program and my 07 ms3 didn't. I am hoping for the next gen ms3, gti-r or focus rs to be available when it comes time to switch this one out :chuckle

Hey guys!
It's been about year since I've last posted.
I used to own a ms3 black mica which I bought from Gary at Ajax Mazda. He was the only sales person who let me test drive this vehicle; this made him worthy of my business. I give props to Ajax Mazda too for the great service I have experienced.
Unfortunately, I was getting the urge to upgrade to an awd vehicle a couple of years later as soon my ms3 was paid off so I went ahead and bought a 09 Subaru WRX STI tech package. This car eventally became stage 2+ with intake/exhaust and tune making more power than I needed :) fast forward 11 months later, I fully paid off my Subaru and my wife is bugging me to add another car in our driveway which would provide utility to meet our needs for my family and house.
So I picked up another vehicle: a 2011 Toyota 4runner limited model with navigation :)
Now my Subaru just gets some drove time in the weekend. My suv and 06 Toyota prius are our road daily road warriors.
Cheers guys!
I give thanks to audio heaven for tinting two of my cars.

I put myself in the included category, I'm not denying it one bit. Once the free shocks, engine replacements and rust coverage expires it could cost a fortune to keep the car in some cases... for others nothing will go wrong. Me, I didn't want to chance it and the cash allowed us to take advantage of the housing market last year which has worked out really well.
I miss the MS3's headroom the most at the moment, along with the chassis, steering and brake feel which makes the type s feel artificial as well as the power on good days. I don't miss the summer/cold and the problems or the mpg. Under warranty coverage its a great car
