Those who may of been curious the quality of Mazda filters, here is the inner workings of one.
GT with 2.0L conversion, running Amsoil synthetic. I mulled over what filters to use, and ended up on a conversation about Mazda's oil filter source is supposed to be a reputable one. I started using the stock Mazda filter brand because it was included in the conversion kit (provided by MoT).
Impressions? Lots and lots of pleats. Has a high filtering ability, definitely more pleats then the cartridge style. In fact, more then what I've seen for cut open filters of other types (FRAM, K&N, Quakerstate).
Also at 95k km everything is clean and no metal debris, I like :)
