So was getting tired of having my iPhone bounce around in my cup holders, or in my pocket making me miss a call. So I went out looking for mounts. I personally dont like anything sticking off my windshield. Anything I found was either pricey ($80.00 plus and it wasnt even all that great), or was modular but you had to buy each and every 'mount' (i.e 1 for the iphone, 1 for GPS, 1 for Blackberry) and it attached to a main mount that was attached to the car. That turned out to be a nice unit but each part was 40-50 bucks plus the mount to the car at 60 bucks.

Anyhow I decided that I would make my own. So I did some research, some measuring, cutting, cursing, cutting of fingers, more measuring and ended up making a nice mount thats basically universal to fit just about any cellphone, GPS, dashhawk, ipod etc. Took me a while to get the parts that I wanted and sourcing out the correct thickness metal so I wouldnt have to cut/sand/grind the dash/stereo in any way.

Forgive the pics, I wasnt using my DSLR. So they maybe a bit fuzzy/blurry.

PICTARS!

If people are interested I may think of doing a few of them and selling them off probably in the ~45ish range. But again I assume I would have to clear it with the MODs or get vendor/affiliate status or something. But yeah I think it came out pretty good.

I should probably add, since I cant quite edit my posts yet, but I can use my glovebox. It opens and closes fine. :)

the 'Holder/Unit' itself is attached by a clip that like your key in then slide down. You can see that one part of the clip is attached to the metal bracket itself and hence if I ever wanna change it up, or a better mount comes up I can swap fairly easily

Oh used an existing screw hole behind the dash. I didnt want somethign that would cut the dash or something. It basically screws in, and gets part of is strength from the way its situated beside the headunit.

I could, but see the thing is the angle of it would cover part of the headunit so you would endup blocking that. Not sure if that bothers people, to me personally it would drive me insane. I usually dont like things to be blocked. But if thats something you wanted, I am sure it can be arranged.

Never thought of there, since I wanted it close the 'eye' level. BUT I can look at it over the weekend and see how else I can mod it. I'll get back to ya to see if I can make it work in a lower position :P
