That time of year again

I need input on dates. Same Location as last year.
PLease vote, this is important to me!

need to pick a date before feb 6th.

before you chime in, mothers day is on may 9th, and the victoria day weekend is the 23rd

well, the way this is going to work, whichever date is most voted on, the following is the rain date, as i book 2 dates to be safe

so if the 16th is chosen...the 30th is the rain date....if the 30th is chosen, the 6th of june is the rain date

i like having 2 booked just to be safe

baking won't be necessary this year, as i don't have a busted up hand haha

So Heres the scoop

Every year this event was held at riverside park. You have to rent sites there like any other city park. So every year ive rented a site. What you may not know, the actual site that the bbq has been held on every year, is riverside parks only non reservable site. So you ask, why bother reserving a site? Incase i do not get there early enough in the morning to secure the non reservable site. What you don't know, is I get to riverside park just shy of 8am every year, to ensure this site. Again you ask, Why this site? Because it has a very big gazebo area and a big patch of grass, and it it all on its own in the parks rear.

Heres the Dilemma This year....

Riverside park Books up for the year very very early (january ish) and i was late booking my "backup" site this year. So I had to book a site at another park in cambridge, but on the other end of cambridge as my "backup". That said, i am still going to go to riverside park to secure that non reservable site just shy of 8am Like i always do, But in the worst case scenario If i am unable to secure this site, we will have to go with my plan B at the other park which i booked for.

Full detailed maps for both locations will be provided online, but the clincher will be the morning of. I will have to call some key people in the GTA to let them know which site to go to so they can spread the word to others.

IM confident that it will be at riverside park like usual, but as it is a non reservable site, i can't give you my 100%

hope this doesn't discourage anyone from coming...eitherway, there will be a bbq that day.

Wait, isn't it faster to go south on Hespeler to Eagle St N, then to Speedville Rd instead of going north on Hespeler? (Google Maps tells me to take this route)

I wanted to thank everybody who signed those cards for me, those are the best thanks anybody can receive. I still hold the other cards from the years past in my bedside dresser.

a big thanks to everyone who came out, a big thanks to all our sponsors who donated to this event, and a big thanks to everyone who helped out to make this happen. Take away any of of these elements, and this event would not be what it is today.

To clear the air, as the majority have heard yesterday, I announced that I will no longer be taking the reigns to this event anymore. When i started this 4 years ago, I promised that this will be an annual event, and it has been so far. I am 100% positive that it will continue to be in the years to come.
I am stepping down because I have done all I can do with this. It's time to pass it onto a newer generation, newer faces, fresher ideas, rather than risk it becoming too stale.

It pains me to make this decision as i tried to hold back emotion yesterday, because ultimately this was my debt of gratitude to pay back towards a wonderful community which has been so dear to me in the last 6 years since I have been involved.
Anybody can meet in a parking lot, anybody can meet in a Tim Hortons, anybody can go to a car show. But this event was about none of the above. It was about the people, for the people, being with the people and for the friendships made within. I had lots of fun doing this for all of you, they are memories to be never forgotten.

So moving foreword to the 2011 Bubba-Q, if it still be named so, the legacy can still live on.

Although I could only stay for about 20 mins (Hell I wasn't even going to come at all!) It seemed like a really well organised event. Props to Adam and the rest of the team that put it together. Was a nice cruise up and I'm glad I went.
