I'm a noob about anything about cars. I want to install AEM Cold Air Intake in a 2010 Mazda 3 GS 4 door. If i do get this and get the dealership to install it, can anyone tell me what would the car benefit from it?

Why are you installing a CAI if you don't know what the benefit is?

Do some research on what it benefits first, then decide if you want it or not.

gives your car better airflow, which increases gas mileage, horsepower etc. don't expect to notice any difference really tho it can only do so much by itself.

and it adds some sound too, but do some research first or spend money on something that you already understand

You can't even get an AEM for the 2010 yet, as it hasn't been released. I suppose you could always "TRY" and have the dealer install a part from the previous generation, I am sure they would love to do that. There is lots of info here about the intakes available for the 2010, including a write up on the Simota by yours truly, it includes for install pics. It is for the 2.5 but, in doing it on the 2.0 it shouldn't be that foreign.

Don't do it, stock intake is powerful enough unless you're running high numbers. Get turbo kit if you want power.

OH dear, based upon this post a lot of people have made a huge mistake by getting an intake because most of us aren't running a turbo.

so your saying a CAI does nothing to a N/A car? thats not true at all. a CAI is good for your engine, turbo or no turbo.

Nope not saying that at all, it was sarcasm in reference to the post above me (just didn't click quote, figured people were smart enough to catch what I was referring to).

if you are even thinking of putting a CAI on a new car your best bet, especially for warrenty on the 2010, is to wait for a mazdaspeed accessory one. i no they are more money but no worries with the dealer questioning you and plus they will be happy to install the mazdaspeed one. just my :.02

have you considered the K&N OEM replacement filters?
I think I have one instock, it will give you a couple of extra HP and its pretty cheap and easy to install =)

There's a fair bit to consider when installing a CAI; some people believe some of it is generally irrelevant, but I believe it is better to know what you're getting yourself into.
Things I recommend being aware of are the positioning of the filter, what it is exposed to (puddles, etc), and where you will be driving. If there is a chance you'll drive through a puddle that is deep enough to submerge the filter long enough to suck water into the engine, then be sure the CAI has a water-lock release valve in it.

I think if you are at all worried about what to get, just buy the replacement K&N filter as it does pretty much the same thing. Especially if you have no plans on heavily-modding your car. If you are worried about warranty, get the Mazdaspeed Intake FROM MAZDA! They will install it for you and don't have to worry about a thing!
