So, stopping on Leslie this morning at a light - going downhill, guy in front of me almost rear-ended a car, I stopped, left plenty of space, but noticed an Acura TSX coming up REAL fast...

BOOM - my glasses and hands-free go flying. I get out and notice a small scratch oin the black part of the bumper - his plate was half on my plate and the bumper - BTW - the TM3 plate cover survived without so much as a scratch on it!! The impact dislodged the licene plate lights (which I was able to place back). No obvious damage (although my neck is a little ouchy). Exchanged info, etc - took car into Scarboro to get checked out - no damage - looked under it, body panels, lights, hatch - all seem to line up perfectly. So I guess me and expecially the guy who hit me are LUCKY!!! I will be going over the car again tonight with a magnifying glass.

As for the Acura - put a good dent in his bumper and plate holder - but didn't really care enough to look.

Score one for Mazdaspeed rear bumpers!

Glad you are okay Mitch. The car too, but it can be replaced.

My wife had an almost identical accident happen in Markham a little over a year ago. She was stopped at a light on Woodbine and a lady in an Acura TSX hit her from behind doing about 30 kmph. The lady in the Acura was apparently too busy trying to pick her cell phone off the floor of her car at the time and wasn't even looking at the road. Wife saw her coming also and couldn't believe the person wasn't looking... In the end, wife was fine and the only damage was to the license plate holder on the 3. The Acura front bumper was a mess.

Glad to hear there was minimal damage and you're good. I would be looking things over pretty closely too when I had a chance. Clean car + good lighting = finding just about anything.

I'm surprised no hairline cracks in the plastic, let alone the paint. The back bumper, like the front, is so flimsy. If you came away like you said, boy that is some luck.

this happens a lot in toronto. Every other big city i've been to has more careful drivers. (never been to montreal though :P )
Glad nobody got hurt.
