After about 3 years of use, my flip-key stopped working on me so I replaced the battery. It fixed the problem for about 2 weeks and now it doesn't work again. The little light on the remote doesn't light up anymore so I'm not sure if something caused the battery to drain or if there is something else wrong. Any suggestions?

look at the contacts inside the remote... they could get mashed down over time from pressing the buttons too hard... it was a design flaw in the early mazda5 and mazdaspeed miata remotes, so mazda redesigned them and replaced those who had problems with them

Try replacing it with another battery. I've had in the past inserted a new cell (tested with a multimeter for voltage) which didn't work. Thought it was the contacts and lifted them gently and retried. That didn't help, so eventually bought another cell and has been working great ever since.

I'll have to try that... I guess I should have purchased the 'extended warranty' from The Source when I bought it.

Forget the source. Where abouts are you? If you're in the scarborough area, go to Sayal near Steeles and Vic Park. It's less than 3 bucks a piece. Hell if you're in that area, I'll give you a new one myself (seriously)

you can get these batteries for way less than a buck if you buy a bunch of them off ebay ;)

I'm near Kipling subway. I'll have to try it tonight when the g/f comes home with the car.

So I replaced the battery again and it worked perfectly for about a month then died. I think my remote is draining the battery somehow so I'll have to get a new one from eBay. Anything I should be aware of when getting one from eBay?

So I replaced the remote, reprogrammed it and it's been working great for the last month. Took it to the dealer today, got home and noticed the remote kept flashing and won't open the doors; any ideas?

What is your FCC ID and IC ???? Why don't you list FCC ID and IC and year of your Mazda?? Whoever need it in the future and will know to buy the correct version of flipkey transmit. That my $.02.
