2010 Mazda 3 Sport window tinting [Archive]

Hi everyone:

I apologize if this thread has started before (I can't find it when I search), but I have three questions:

1) Has anyone tinted their windows on a 2010 Mazda 3 Sport and if so, how much does it cost?
2) Where is the best place to go in Toronto proper (i.e. south of 401, west of DVP, east of 427)?
3) How long does the process take? Is it "while-you-wait"?

All those questions could be answered if you used the search button.

But i will help you out..alot of people on this fourm get their windows tinted at Audio Heaven..and they are a site sponser

ANd it takes about 2 hours give or take

+1 to audio heaven. I took my 2010 sedan there, and they did it in just over an hour, and it looks great!

i talked to Mathieu @ SecheMedia and was referred to Thornhill Tints. just got them done yesterday! exceptional work & service, and gave me a coffee as well! haha

My car isn't black but it's close enough. (23% front | 17% rear)

At audio heaven they have promotions sometimes depending on the timing of the year. The price ranges from 180-200 + tax I believe. Its best to go under the sponsors part of the forum and look for Audio Heaven contact info and contact them directly

Holy crap!!:nothing smiley..what is that in us dollars? We pay $110-150 or if experienced enough..do it yourself...Like me!!

I assume the 5 door hatchback is considered a '4 door', thus the ~$199 price tag would include the rear hatch window?

All 4 door cars will cost the same

Definitely a good thing to start with on a fresh car. It changes the look drastically.

mine with 17% tint from audio heaven, looks slightly darker in the photo.
2nd car I've tinted their, amazing work, with lifetime warranty. you can't go wrong with them.

lol, those are the OEM '04 - '05 mazda 3 15" alloy wheels, i got them for a good price with winter tires, just painted gunmetal grey. for winter they'll do :)

Are you allowed to tint your front window?
Also anyone know of any other good places they got theirs done?

Welcome, first of all, post a thread in the new users section... along with pics. Yes, pics.

For tints, you are only allowed to tint your front windows (NOT including windshield), rear windows including the little triangle shaped ones, and the rear hatch window. If you have a moonroof, don't tint it, I think there's a problem with tinting moonroofs or something. The legal limit in Ont. is 35% for the front windows, and as dark as you want for the rear windows and hatch window, but a lot of people get away with as low as 17% all around. I do some night-time driving on the weekends, and I didn't want to kill my visibility too much, so I went with 30% all around. I could have probably gone with 23% and still be fine, but the interior of my car is black, and 30% makes it look dark enough anyway. If you look through this thread, you will see the various tinters that people go to - I personally went to Audio Heaven for mine.

Hey Lisa. Congrats on the purchase. On the forum people have gone as dark as 5% with little or no hassle from police. Personally I wouldn't go lower than 20% all around. I have 35% front and 17% rear. 35% front is probably the forum's interpretation of the Ontario tint laws. Are you in Ontario?
Night driving is the biggest issue. When driving out of my garage, I have to be a bit careful due to the tints. Also if you go too dark like 5%, then you may have to roll down your windows to see you side mirrors at night. So maybe 20-23% all around if you want to go reasonably dark. It looks great. I got 35% fronts just in case but went darker in the back and that looks good to me too. It's really preference. Oh yeah, Audio Heaven for me too.

That's correct. There is no set percentage written in the HTA. It all comes down to officer discretion on what is 'too dark'. With that said, 35% is the common "safe" percentage that people will use in the front.

But like others have said, you really need to take into consideration night driving. If you do a lot of driving at night, especially in areas without a lot of street lights (i.e. in the country), it will be pretty difficult to see through the tints. I myself went with 23% all around and there have been times where I'm driving up north at night and I have to put my windows down to see through them. When I'm driving around the GTA though, I never really have any issues with night time visibility.

I've ran on 15% all around going on two years now on my 2010 (courtesy FX Auto in Markham) and thankfully no hassles or troubles from the 5-0. Just took a little bit of getting used to how dark it is and now it's like normal to me.

I got my tints at Auto-Links last year.. 30% all around, ceramic pinnacle F1 tints. No probs to date. :)
