9/10. One point taken off because it ends eventually and doesn't continue on forever. There is nothing better than driving someone else's car to death.

I have done 2 of them with some friends and they are so so. If you have not previously done performance driving, or on track driving it is a great experience, and you learn some good stuff. However if you have previously autocrossed or done track days you may not learn too much as it is very much geared towards:

1) selling you a BMW
2) lowest common denominator driving.

i've never been on a track, so it was the most exciting driving i've done lol.
The selling stuff was only mentioned once during the entire day, and i was expecting a lot more product pushing. It wasn't too bad. I can see how experienced drivers won't learn anything new though.

This seems very interesting. I think I may have to look into it. Of course depending on the price.... lol

I have always wanted to take a driving course like this, but never wanted to use my own car :p

i went for the 1 day event. It's listed on the site as "advanced." Totally worth the money imo.

I've been told by one of my co-workers that the BMW club driving training is a lot better than BMW's offered drivers training. The only downside is that you have to use your own car.

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought this was a course to teach BMW drivers to cut people off and change lanes without signaling.

A little pricey for what it is IMO.

If you want the real deal try this.

While cool as hell, this is not comparable. The BMW driver training is focused on real world driving scenario's, utilizing road cars. They throw some fun tracking into it too.

While you can learn a lot from racing Formula 2000 cars, or even ROTAX or shifter karts for that matter, they are a completely different beast in almost every respect, than a road car.

the trillium BMW club is prolly the best "club", in my opinion...they run track days and also run their club days at Calabogie, arguably the best track (that I haven't driven) in Ontario...their driver training is definitely worth it and is more greared towards tracking enthusiasts...

this is more geared towards ppl who drive fast on the street, so they get a sense of what REAL FAST DRIVING CAN BE...

completely off-topic, but I'd like to share my experience from a BMW test-drive done @ Downsview...we tried the 335d last year:

1. It's posh, and it's geared towards selling you a BMW.
2. They have professional drivers there.
3. When we were told that the 335d cleans up the exhaust with urea, my companion of the day said, "If we run out mid day, I can help fill it back up...I've brought my own..." To which the female test driver just stared back at him blankly.
4. I stalled the car (manual) and got a warning.
5. We drove 8/10th's, screeching tires...got a warning.
6. My buddy didn't brake hard enough near end of course...got a warning.
7. After getting a warning, my buddy drove back a little too quick...got another warning.

Needless to say, I told my buddy to eff himself when he invited me back again this year...lol...

ya.. i did the test drive event for the 1 series... when you go to the actual school they let you do anything you want as long as you don't endanger anyone. During the 1 series event a few people got warnings though.

My dad did it for a day one year when I bought it for him for his birthday. He loved it. He said it was worth whatever I paid for it. He learned alot about how to drive too.

Yeah trillium is great I know people that went multiple times. They run both mosport big track and DDT depending on the course you choose (2 days vs. 1 day). I would love to go except I want to get new rims (and a bike?) so don't want to commit the money there. Plus I don't know if it'll feel intimidating taking a mazda 3 there; nothing against our cars but the crowd that shows up are usually bmw's (of course), porsche's, and other "fast" cars

If TM3 can have a mosport big track course with instructors that would be awesome :)

I did the first stage years ago of the BMW advanced training, I had a great time and got some good knowledge out of it... It was also a birthday present when I was 18 so it really helped my driving skills.
