Well after owning my last mazda 3 (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?40660-Got-into-an-Accident) I made the decision (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?40820-2010-Mazda-3-GT-or-2010-VW-Jetta-TDI) to get a new 3. Just picked up a new 2010 Mazda 3 GT-E Sedan Aluminum last Friday and had the weekend to play around with it, and have to say it's a big improvement over my last 2008.5 GS. I loved my last 3 and really appreciated the features it had, however the seats are really improved, handling and ride nicer and it's a quieter car. The one thing that really stands out the advanced key, I love it! Just the fact that you have to press one button to enter and I never have to fumble for my keys. I also got it programmed that it auto locks when I walk away. Just so everything knows you can get the smart turn activated and mine was made Jan 2010. Also I have the automatic and here's my report on fuel economy mix of 70% highway 30% city. On my first tank I got 620 km. Yes that is with careful driving but not too slow. I am very happy with that since (I got roughly around 580km with my GS) I have my snows on as well. Pics to come as soon as I have the side skirts installed. Two mods so far RHO-plate and LED license plate lights. Really glad I went with this over the Jetta! Glad to be a 3 owner again :)

Congratulations on your new ride.

Thanks for the update on the smart turn feature. Good to know.

Auto lock seems like a logical choice since the fob should always be in your pocket and not in the car.

Hi Trinidad, for the smart turn feature, is this specific to the GTE model? I have a 2010 GT model and went to MOT last month to have this turned on and was told I didn't have this feature (my car was manufactured in Sept 09) and was told that the early production models would have this feature but not the ones made later in the year...

Hi Trinidad,

At which Dealer are you getting your Side Skirts installed ?

I checked around and found a big difference from one to the other.

I tell you, the best deal I found, was a Oakville Mazda, talk to Andrew.

He quoted me under $700 installed, parts and labour.

I'm getting mine as soon as the weather settles down.

I bought my car from Erin Mills Mazda, however I am getting in installed at Oakville Honda. It's part of the Dilwari group which owns Erin Mills and Oakville Honda's Collision center is their Mazda approved repair/body shop. I just dropped it off there last night. Should be ready today. Under $700 seems to be a pretty good price as well. However I worked out a really good deal with Erin Mills as I was including the side skirts in the overall price of the car. I'll be snapping some pics this weekend.

Nice buy! The GT-E trim model is ballin'. I'm surprised you found your new '3 to be quieter than your last - I had a 2005 Mazda3 GS Sport before I picked up my 2010 GT sedan and my sedan is noticeably louder. (Increased cabin noise, especially on the highway.)

Ya that is interesting, although I did get the undercoat "sound sheild" which might reduce noise a bit. Although there is some debate over that. But Yes I do find it much quieter, even during the test drive of the "GT" version, apparently due to the mirror re-design and the wipers tucked away more.

im shocked that you are pulling those numbers in fuel economy the best i can get with decent driving is about 500 till the light comes on. But i have heard that being automatic somehow they are supposed to get better mileage then the standard. But so be it i bought it for its driving characteristics and toys not fuel economy

So was I but if you look at my odometer, you can see the total for the car so far is 1124km and my first tank was 620km now I am at 508km on track to get about 610km for this tank. I seem to be filling up 51L so there is still about 80km still you can push before it goes completely dry. Pretty good mileage, although I think the OEM 17" rims weight quite a bit and could contribute to less mileage, with my stock 16's on there that might be helping me out. But I think you stated that you also do a lot of city driving?

Didn't have the stockers on for longer then maybe 200km before I put my 18s on and between my 16's 5 spokes for winters and my 18s rx8's no difference in mileage. I do about the same as you in city highway maybe 60 highway and 40 city. But oh well I love the car regardless. Enjoy the new toy and you did a wise choice by paying the extra 2g's for the e package. The options that are in it are totallyt worth it well atleast to a car freak like me lol

Oh I agree with you totally, I was debating whether or not to get the "E" package but for the price I figured I'd regret it after the fact. So I went for it, I think it's totally worth it, love the smart key and the AFS and since I don't listen to really loud music the Bose is perfectly fine for me.

Thanks, bought them as an add on but included with the purchase price. The dealer installed it for me.

yes the smart key is sweet gives you the luxury feeling. the swivel headlights well tooke me a while to figure out what the "AFS" button was for as they do NOT describe that to you in the manual lol. I guess thats what happens when you have a "early" production model. My build date is 2008 bought the car in 2009 and its classified a 2010 lol. As for the BOSE love it sounds great but then again i am running a deck BUT i managed to not have to cut any wires to make it work as it was the same haress they used for the previous gen. The only thing that doesnt work is the sound for the navi but i can live without the annoying voice :chuckle

lol that Navi voice haha. I've heard worse though :chuckle. The Navi I find though is accurate for the most part until you start getting into the downtown core though, guess more to do with finding the satellites. I was on the gardener the other day and it thought I was on Lakeshore lol.
