How much does everyone do themselves? Ie: do you change your own brakes and rotors? Do you do your own springs? Your exhaust? CAI? etc.

I change my own oil, installed my CAI, short shift, HIDs, Sub and amp install, change brake pads, and did some interior work (LEDs) at home.

I did take my car to a shop to get my exhaust done, as well as struts and springs installed. These things, although possible to do at home, are a PITA to do without getting the car up on a lift.

I did everything i possibly could at home to save as much money as i could(from interior leds - coilover install). luckly my pops is a mechanic and he could give me a hand with alot of things.

With the right tools and equipment - you can do anything in your driveway.
Unfortunately, I can only do as much as a suicide-scissor Jack and a Home Hardware multi-tool will allow me

Change oil, brakes, basic stuff.

As others have said - tools and a lift make things a bit easier.

I was debating on the other vehicle (not a Mazda) we have to change the gasket on the rear differential, but realzied I need a bit more space to do that in my driveway - so I'm off to the mechanics on Friday...

Everything that's happened on my car, was done with my own hands at home. The only exception was my exhaust install cause I didn't have a hoist and enough gas for the welder.

I'm about the same i put in my short shifter, the fogs are going in soon, the SRI is going in probably at the same time as the fogs. I change the oil, filter at home along with the brakes rotors pads, at least i did on my last car. My pads are still good for now. The exhaust would be going on at home but that's a pain in the butt without a hoist. Plus I have to put in the UQR and I don't know how to weld, and don't have a welder

Everything's (both maintenance and modifications) been done at home with exception of the Dynomax muffler. That one needed to get welded in.

On my old neon, I did everything including the head gasket.

On my 3, just bulbs and wired the new head unit/sub in.

I do absolutely everything
When i had played with civics and integras, i would do everything as putting 1999 Honda CRV OBD2 2.0L engines into 1992 OBD1 chassis's :p
With my MSP, ive done everything with it
The only time my car(s) have ever been into a shop, was for etests, safeties, and if it had anything to do with welding.
Mods, maintence, etc i do all myself.

i have access to a hoist at my work, so everything on my car has been done by me, except for some more advanced stereo work.

I wash and wax my cars (which is something I won't let anyone else do) and I will change out simple things like lights etc. Everything else, I just leave it to Jimmy. I am reasonably mechanically inclined, but there are other things I want to do with my time and Jimmy is so good and so cheap, I'd rather leave it in his more than capable hands.

When I was younger, I spent a lot more time working on my cars directly.

LOL. I have a ways to go before I hit 50... :)

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to sit outside in the warmth of the sun on my rocking chair and have some soft pudding.
