Been living down in the city since mid november now. I live at Lawrence and Avenue. Any good dealerships for reference, or any ones I should avoid going to?

There's a dealership reviews section here: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?94-Mazda-Dealership-Experience

As always, take the stories with a grain of salt. Different people have different experiences at dealerships (I've had good experiences at some dealerships where people have had bad experiences). You can also check out the reviews in the affiliated dealers section of the sponsor area.

They all have good and bad aspects.

I had an overall good experience at Westowne Mazda, Jeff and Joe from Mazda of Toronto are good guys and always willing to help.

I did have an awful experience at Agincourt Mazda and will avoid it like the plague.

downtown mazda is a no-no. even if you are going there for convenience because you live in the core

What is a super-experience for one member, can be a nightmare for another, at the same location. Beware of the blind "sheep" mentality that may rear it's ugly head here from time to time. Do yourself a favour and go to a few locations, even if they're out of the way.

Go to a few, and don't let them pressure you. I had a brutal experience at Direct Mazda, then visited Maple Mazda and experienced some pretty high pressure. Finally I went to Gyro and had a great experience. Nick was my salesman, he knew all about cars (which can be hard to find sometimes). He actually worked for me by arguing about the value of my trade with his manager. By shopping around my 2006 Mazda 3 Gt trade-in went from $6500 (Direct) to $11,400 (Gyro), a very big difference!

Bought my car there, Prima gave me the best deal I could find, but service at Dave Wood in Newmarket for only warranty work so far and been happy with the results, no hassle.

One I went to was yorkdale mazda and got some service done there. Found they were pretty helpful, though I must admit one day when I got home maybe 4-5 days later I was missing a hub cap. I think I may have tapped a curb a day or two before. Hard to say if it was cause of a bad install or not.

Care to elaborate? I purchased my car there as well...

Even the most well praised dealer can have bad reviews...but am really interested in what happened.

When you go in for an oil change you expect that everything will be done to specs, and that within the first 20km of travel you dont loose all your oil get an oil light. Then when you investigate you find the oil filter has been double gasketed. Go to walmart (obviously i left the car where it was and did NOT drive it to walmart) You buy oil and a filter get back to the car change the filter add in the oil. Drive 2km to your next destination and hear a slight ticking noise. Call the dealer explain the situation and by the service advisor get told its OK to drive it in. I ask a second time are you sure? Advisor says yes and says bring it in first thing in the morning. OK drive home and the next morning try to drive it in. On the way to the dealer boom motor blows. Tow the car to the dealer from where i broke down. Dealer accepts the car doesnt call me friday monday tuesday or wednesday. I have to keep calling them to get updates on whats going on. They wont give me a rental car even though I have 6 years 160000km extended bumper to bumper warranty I finally get word they wont cover it even though it is thier screw up. They are telling me that all the oil leaked out of a hole in the block which is not very logical to me as if this hole had been present from where i heard the ticking to home and then driving to where i broke down in the morning why didnt the oil light come on? Over a distance of maybe 60-70 km after hearing the ticking for the first time where was the oil light? i spoke with mazda canada with my dad and they told me its not their problem which is fully understandable and told me to deal with the dealer. With my dad went to the dealer and met with the service manager and that lead us to no where. We ended up speaking with the general manager who had a complete different perspective on the situation and seemed to be a little more concerned then the service manager himself. Upon waiting a reply from him and further alleged attempts to get the motor covered all negotiations failed. the dealer itself did not want to deal with me or my father anymore. Having had enough of the dealer and being in week 2 of the situation i had the car towed out of that dealer ship. Car was towed to another dealer and a motor was tracked down of course a used one with low mileage to my luck. The motor was installed at this other dealership. This is the dealer i usually take my car to but due to convenience with close to work i took my car there for the first and only time. So all in all an oil change costed me about 5000$

So if this story doesnt change your mind about this dealer i dont know what will

That really sucks...sorry about your experience. Again, I havent had a bad experience with them except once being picked up late (shuttle service) but other then that, no issues *knocks on wood*. That being said, everyone will have good or bad experiences with ANY dealer. I am not defending Prima, just trying not to look at it in an objective way.

For the OP, I'd go through the dealer reviews section and use that as your decision maker.
