JULY 11th, 2010.
Hello everyone, first of all I would like to thank all of those who participated in the event for the last three years and have supported us.
Most of you by now are already familiar with the event. For those who are not, TASR is a great family event that attracted over 200 participants this year, and raised close to $2,000 in donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel. The show is all about setting role models for our youth; therefore Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel could not be a better charity for the event. Help us this year reach a higher goal to help them out! It costs approximately $1,000 per child for find an appropriate volunteer.
I am sure that in this difficult economic situation we are facing, they could use our help more than ever. Price for the event is $20 individual per vehicle, 5 or more vehicles in a group $15 each.
Spectator entrance minimum $2.00 donation.
The purpose is to build on our previous events, and spread even more awareness. As well to further showcase automotive enthusiasts, and tuners as responsible individuals making a difference in their communities. This is also a call out to anyone who has links in media to get them to come out and see for themselves what Tuners and Youth Automotive enthusiasts are really doing and how they support their communities and Charity.
This year along with TTS(Tuner Trial Series) the only show series that has both an elite and regular classes, tuners do not have to worry about being classed and going against sponsored cars, therefore there is more choice and variety and more chances to win. TASR will employ this ideology for TASR 2010.
More details to come soon, but mark you calendars July 11, 2010.
Hope to see you there
Sincerely,
TASR

As most of you already know, Tuners Against Street Racing is for a great cause. This charity event benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel.
I have received some calls/ PM’s over the last few weeks inquiring about my participation (or lack thereof) in the event itself, as I was heavily involved the last 2 years.
I am still participating in the event on different levels. I can tell you that their will be some great prizes that will be raffled off from various sponsors, including some from our very own TM3 sponsors (NextMod, Audio Heaven, Tires23, Auto-Links, and Simply Tire). I won’t go into the details as I want to keep it a surprise.
I will be at the show with some old/ new friends under Team_JH Society. It’s nothing personal against TM3; just a personal decision to enter and catch up with other friends I haven’t been in touch with in a while.
I wanted to thank everyone for their participation the last couple of years, and for the ongoing support this year and years to come.

^ nicely put. although i have made the choice to attend Import Expo instead, this is a great charity event I would have liked to otherwise participate in. don't worry, i'm pretty sure everyone understands where you are coming from. i don't think anyone will take it psersonally. TM3 is a great group, but it doesn't mean you can't have a life without it, right!?!?!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for coming out to support this worth cause. Alot of kids count on this charity event, and appreciate everyone's support. Although the attendence competed with 2 other car related shows today, your participation was more then anyone can ask. If there is anyone I forget to acknowledge, I apologize as it has been a long day (..... but your support is very appreciated :) ).
- Matt (msequence)>> Congrats again on a successful charity drive!!
- TM3 club entry>> You guys came out in great #'s again. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel owe you much love for your support over the last 4 years (at least the one's I was apart of).
- Team_JH Society>> For the members here on the TM3 forum who participated with Team_JH Society, I personally want to thank all of you. The Best Team award was a win for you guys (... and of course the non- Mazda's with us). You guys earned it. Remember, there was the vinyl wrap discount that came with the win for the whole team.

Did anyone win anything from TM3? ...... or Team_JH Society for that matter?
I know it's a charity event, so winning should be the furthest thing from anyone's mind.... but I'm just curious.

The most shocking to me was midnightfxgt not winning anything...

As far as I know,
TEAM JH took home 7 awards:
Best Elite Mazda 2nd place P-O-G-I
Best Mazda3 1st place -RJ3-
Best Mazda3 2nd place JBoic
Best Mazda3 3rd place Whitespeed3
Best Elite club TEAM JH Society

Thank God the rain didn't last long.
I agree, there were some quality cars in general over looked (midnight's ride was in the same situation royroy was in last year, DaRuffestRyder's MR2 didn't place in any category, etc.). I've judged a couple of events before, and I know there are a few memebers here who have had the same experience before as well.... I can tell you that judging is not as easy as you would think it is. It would be nice for every judge to have their take on every car, but there is just not enough time in the day. Taking into consideration the # of judges used to ensure all car's are reviewed in a timely manner, that can be alot of conflicting points of view.
On a related note, I know that in my experiences of judging.... I found it difficult to get competitors to talk about their cars. Alot were reactive. Judges in general want people to talk about their cars, about the build, about the inspiration, about the theme, why you chose certain mods, etc. It should never be a situation where a judge needs to constantly asked questions to get you to talk about your car.
I don't think we should put too much emphasis anyways on the competing aspect for this particular event. Overall, I think the main purpose of this event was served... and that was for the kids of the community.

Big thanks to Pogi for once again getting me out to this event.
I almost went to ImportExpo but glad I went to this one to see old faces, make new friends/connections and get a chance to hook up with the owner of one of my favorite rides.
Judging is crazy, I couldn't imagine doing it so many variables...

No doubt judging is very difficult. As well, I understand the main purpose of this event is to raise money for a great charity. That said, a competitive aspect still remains. However, one thing a few people much more experienced than I suggested, is having the same person judge an entire class. This way, they have a more accurate comparison for each car. One last comment on judging, this one cracked me up, whoever judged midnightfxgt's car, asked two questions 1)while looking in the interior of the car asks "do you have racing seats" ? 2)do you have an intake?
All I can say to that is.....yikes.
Overall, I enjoyed the event, as I have in years past. However, going forward I think the event needs help on the organizational front before I would consider returning. The award announcements were still on going when I had to leave around 6:10pm, do to another commitment. Ideally the event would wrap by 5pm as originally planned.

I think judging is kind of a snowball affect.
People judge one year, find out that someone was unhappy with the results and wash their hands of it next year so as not to create any drama so then a new batch of volunteers need to be found who might not have the same experience as those who did the year before and so on and so forth.
I used to put on a lot of BMX events and I really don't miss event organizing...

Thanks guys.....
No one will ever understand judging. My judge was a nice guy, but really really really had no idea on the import scene... he told me he didnt want to judge the Mazdas due to this, and started in the back row behind them, and I happened to be first. LOL. Him asking if my seats were racing seats or stock was pretty brutal, but what can you do? No point in asking for a re-judge, or bitch about it... it happens. I saw the judging sheet and I scored a 6/10 on exterior and I think 4/10 on motor.... WTF? lol. At the end of the day, it all goes to charity, and thats what matters. Too many people focus on the judging. I can rhyme off a few other insane Winners in some other classes too... I think it was just some bad judging in general, which is nicer than some of the politics at other shows :)

Alot of good feedback and comments.
I agree with Ami's comment that having the same jude to do an entire class would benefit from a comparison stand point. The only issue with that is if you have an event like yesterday's where Mazda was a good portion of the entire show.
But I see where you were going with this......

Kinda sad I had to miss this event entirely. My work schedule has dominated my life and I hate it. Missing everything this year and I have always enjoyed this event. Sucks to hear about the judging, but like it was said, new judges every year just means inconsistency unfortunately.
Hopefully I can make it to ImportFest and MOM this year *sigh*
