I have a 2005 gt automatic, and I been experiencing the "shift shock" issue in which on cold starts shifting from 1st to 2nd gear really jerks. I have searched on the form and found that this is a very common problem for 04-05 model, and everyone got it fixed by reflash the ecu at the dealer under warranty. But my is not covered under warranty anymore so would resetting the ecu do the same?
Thanks

No it is not the same thing. The reflash of the ECU for the shift shock, is an update, not just a reset.

thanks for answering, I will also install a cbe in the next few weeks and will probably reset the ecu after the install. Does it matter if I reset the ecu before the update or after the update? Is resetting the ecu going to effect the update done to the ecu if I do it after i update the ecu?
Thanks

No it does not matter if u reset the ECU before or after the update because their just going to rewrite everything on it. And when u update the ECU its permanent u cant erase it by resetting the ecu. SO RESET AWAY LoL
