Hi all,

So today I forgot I was in M mode and revved to engine pretty much to redline.... This was a few minutes after starting the car... exited garage, merged with traffic, made an advance green stop. Then redlineeeee so about 3 min or maybe more or maybe less... after starting the car. Just wondering if I did any damage on the cold engine. thx

Don't worry about it, if the engine was running for 2-3 minutes the oil was definitely flowing. In the old days you had to worry about having a piston seize or get scuffed if you worked the engine too hard before it got up to full operating temperature but with modern metallurgy and machining that isn't really an issue. I wouldn't advise making a habit of redlining the engine when it is not fully warmed up but if it happens every once in a while I doubt you will do any real damage.

Yeah doubt you did anything. If the temp is anywhere around zero thats plenty of time to circulate the oil. I used to rev the crap out of my leased hyundai when it was quite cold and I never plugged that POS in. I'm sure over years the cumulative affect would be bad but one time probably not.
