Anyone else thinking of competing this year (http://solo2.casc.on.ca/index.php)? I'm going to make the Picton weekend for sure, and hopefully the DDT on May 2nd. Still debating if I want to run the entire series or not.

If I had a car for it, I'd be running in SoloSprint. I see they're running the big track at Mosport nowadays too. That would be an awesome event. :)

Solosprint is awesome...but the cost gives me a heart attack. That and I'm a ***** on tracks. Prefer to take it slow to make sure nothing goes wrong.

how many of you are going to the open house?

what I noticed, is if you pre-pay at the open house, the Mosport (MIR) lapping day is only $295 vs $300+ with other organizers...

Auto-slalom is always good practice, but I might do a couple of local events and maybe ATTS again...

I'm running the series again but since I'm returning my leased MX-5 in June I'm co-driving an older turbocharged Miata in the regional series. I'll be running my MS6 at TLMC and most likely in the ATTS as well.

I'll be running FSS in the 3 again. Managed a 1st and 2nd at the Picton double header last year(paxed 14th and 13th the two days), and I picked up better tires for this season. Should be a fun year. I just need to drive better. The second day I was beat by another MCO driver, normally I was 2.5-3 seconds ahead of him at our local events, he beat me by 0.09 on Sunday. I know exactly where I lost time that run too, there's a god damn picture of me screwing up and heading into a corner to fast/wide...

Anyway, should be a fun year. 11 more days till the St LAC test and tune in Picton, 23 days till I get to Calabogie for some lapping and only 25 until the first actual autocross! I can't wait...:drool

R's or uber street tires? If you're just starting, better to learn on uber streets IMO, R's mask your mistakes.

I ordered from Talon Tire outta Montreal. Did so for a few reasons, first off I get 40% off Toyo R888's cause I'm a member of Team Toyo. Second, I had $100 in gift certificates from them. And finally, they're a sponsor for my club series. If I place top 3 I earn cash I can then put towards my tires for 2011.

Matt(Gizzmo) bought his tires off of me.

If you're looking for uber streets, I suggest looking at the following: Bridgestone RE11, Dunlop *Spec, or Hankook RS3. The 'stones are expensive, but really good. The *Specs are just as good, but more affordable. The Hankook RS-3 is cheap, and affordable, and just as good. But not yet available in Canada. You could also go with the Kumho XS, but they're weak in the wet compared to the first 3 I named. Toyo R1R's are interesting...work great on light cars. So figure under 2500#. Once you pass that threshold, it seems that they just wear very fast. Are very good in the wet for any car though, the heat just doesn't build up as bad as in the dry.

The other ones in the same category (Yokohama AD08/AD07, RT-615, RT-615K) are solid, the AD08 is actually just as good as the first three. But it's expensive, the AD07 isn't as good as the others, and RT-615 is old and outdated. The RT-615K is new, but too expensive.

My recommendation, *Spec or RS-3. Just go with whatever is cheaper.

I hate my local competition who's likely to pick up some used V710's offa CASC-Or. Tried to hide them from him, but alas, no luck. That should be fun, he's ****ing FAST in that damn RSX....

Staying at Switzer's. We went out for steak and then beer last year, was me, Schmoo, Greg, Bill, Rob, Tashko(from SPDA), and a few others the beer made me forget. This year it should be similar group(dunno about Tashko), plus somewhere between 2 and 4 friends of mine.

Ya, driving hungover results in bad times, but great fun.
