View Full Version : Agincourt Mazda wouldn't fix my shift shock....

For people who had the shift shock problem, what did you tell the dealer? Cuz I told my dealer that my car has the shift shock problem and it needs a software update. They said they have to do a diagnostic before they can do anything to my car, and since it only happens during cold starts, they said they would need to keep the car over night.
The next day, they didn't call me or anything, so I had the call them, and they told me my car was ok, and they didn't discover any problems and told me to come and pick up. So I went there to pick up my car, and the moment I drove off the lot onto the street I FELTED THE SHOCK AGAIN, but I had to go somewhere in a hurry so didn't go back and tell them.
I wonder how they "test drove" my car... I even felted the shock right after I picked up the car... Anyways for the people with shift shock, what was the "magic phrase" or "magic word" that you had to tell them so they can fix it for you with out keeping it over night and not doing anything...

A good thing is they didn't charge me for the diagnostic, but the thing is I wouldn't mind paying some bills to get my shift shock fixed lol

I won't bash that dealership (it's been covered here in great detail). Go somewhere else like MOT, Scarboro, Oakville, or Dave Woods.

Why not call and ask if you can drive with the technician, so you can demonstrate the problem?

only for auto tranny, during cold starts, the car jerks pretty bad from 1st to 2nd gear and goes away after the car warms up

agincourt is retarded
Just take it to Scarboro Mazda, if you dont mind the drive, take it to other dealers mentioned

I didn't have your problem but when I had tranny issues, I went and test drove with a tech and showed them the problem. The tech than tells the service advisor what happened and starts up a work order, which they than determine if it's covered under warranty.
This was at Agincourt last summer.
Either way it isn't gonna be covered under warranty if its an 05... but i'd like to add that I can't believe ppl are still bringing their cars to Agincourt. That dealer is shady.

Definitely go with the tech for test drive so that when, it happens you can confirm he feels the shock as well.
I had a similar situation, my upper shock mount was making some slight popping noises when turning the steering wheel at slow speeds or when stopped. Tech could not hear anything, and said everything is normal, I asked him to come with me, I opened the hood, sat in the car and told the guy to be outside of the car as I turned the wheel, and behold... he heard the sound.

I dunno, my 05 was was taken in and "updated" free of charge, I didn't need them to replicate the problem either, they already knew. I thought it was supposed to be a TSB that didn't require warranty? Strange... if you plan on going back there try speaking with Lester directly. He's a lot of help when you aren't trying to communicate with him via email or telephone :chuckle

Seriously?? No I went to a dealership in Ottawa to get this done... I have been to Agincourt though and usually he's pretty helpful. Sorry to hear, not too familiar with Toronto dealerships but I keep hearing good things about Oakville... maybe try them? I'll try to find my receipt later tonight from when I had it done and give you a specific name for the TSB (if it is one), so you can bring it right to them and be like "SEEEEEEEEEE??" hahah jk

I have this problem too, but if I use the 'Manumatic' mode, so I go from 1st to 2nd at around 15k RPMs, there is no shock. Kinda annoying, but no dealer wanted to fix it without diagnosing and I'm afraid they'll pull out some B.S. fees and 'repairs' if I do. I did go to Mazda of Toronto to get keys re-programmed and I got two TSBs fixed, one had to do something with the oil, the other was the door locking mechanism, both were free of charge. There was no mention of the 'shift shock' issue, so I assumed it was not a TSB or would require extra work(which would cost money).
I'm subscribing this thread if you find a way to resolve it though :)

WOW, you must have F1 engine in that thing if you are shifting at 15,000 RPMs

Okay found my receipt, this is what is written on it:
Complaint: Transmission is slipping, was told there is a software problem known for these cars.
Cause: Could not duplicate problem but did find software update
Correction: Updated powertrain software. Customer to monitor. Also noted transmission fluid very dark.
Total labor & parts: 0.00
:)
I can't remember if I mentioned it to you previously but they did change my transmission fluid as well, so that might have helped too. Like I said though it still does it slightly. Doesn't feel as bad though, but maybe I just got used to it :chuckle
Hope this helps! They should at least update it for you free of charge.
