Anyone here have experience with putting a rush on their passport? I'm leaving on April 26 and didn't realize they won't let you use the "express pick up" option unless you're traveling within 10 business days. :bang
They say it should be there within 10 business days anyway, but, can't guarantee anything. I can take a huge risk and wait until 10 days before and pay for express pickup but I'm not quite sure how that works or how reliable that method would be...

i think they charge you extra but can have it in 2-3 weeks (correct me anyone if im wrong)
On the part where it asks when you are leaving say the 17th or something, that should make sure you have it before the 26th.
Where are you going? I leave for Mexico on the 26th.

Yah they would need me to prove that with travel documents though, no?
Mexico? Funnn!! We were gonna go there but we decided on Vegas instead :P

Mine arrived a week later registered mail. I would just follow standard procedure.

You really should go into the office and talk to them. I had to rush renew my passport in January before my trip to the Bahamas, and to guarantee 24-hour turn around, it's around $90. They do have an "expedited" service, where it comes in a few days, and it costs about $35.
I was indeed asked to show travel arrangements, although they really don't give it much thought or research - they just look at the date to confirm. I was originally told to pay the $90 for the super-expedited service and to come back with my travel documents, but when I DID come back, I got a more "informed" agent, who said that the regular rush would be fine within my timeline.

But don't use the mail in, go to the passport office in person.

Yeah I'm definitely going in person tomorrow morning, and will be picking up in person... ahhhh!!! I'm in full panic mode now hahaha (between the wheel gaps on my car and this passport I'm in dire need of a vacation :chuckle)
I just called them again to ask if I should bring in any travel documents but the guy insisted I should have it by the 21st. Cutting it a little close for my liking, but I guess it's all I can do!!
Thanks guys! :)

My mom had next day service on her passport, when my uncle passed away and she wanted to go to the funeral, this was pre 911 though so no idea on it now.

I just got mine in the mail but it had to be personally picked up and signed as they do not leave them in the mailbox's. The only thing I am mad is they null and cancel your previous one even if there are a few months left (mine expires in July) bummer... but ya they do a next day pickup for an extra charge.

So I went in t his morning (6:45 am and there were about 20 people ahead of me already!!!) It went pretty quick though. Got a receipt saying I can pick it up on the 21st.
Fingers crossed there won't be any issues with my application!!!! Thanks everyone for your help :)

Is this renewal or new application? Cuz new application, make sure guarantor part is completed and guarantor has signed one of the photos

Anyone ever experience losing their passport?
I cannot ****** FIND MINE. I have ripped my house apart. I have not used it since September of last year and can't remember where the hell I put it. &@$(@*&)%(*#@&%(*#%*# The search continues. If I dont find it tonight I have to file a police report, and apply as if it's the first time. Thankfully they have changed that laws on who your guarantor can be.

If you file at the office, it only takes 5 days to get it.
Also, when you get your receipt at the office after paying for your passport, you can use this to cross along with your ID. Me and quite a few other friends have done this and were told it was OK by the U.S. Customs.

Depends. I paid the extra $10 for pick up and it took exactly 10 business days. If you're traveling within 10 business days you can pay a higher fee and pick it up in 5 business days, or for a ridiculous, even higher fee for 24 hours. I know some people have gotten it mailed to them in 5 days but that's a HUGE risk, especially if your travel date is near (like mine was).
Glad you got it sorted out Crystal! You can call them between now and your scheduled pick up time to bug them and make sure everything is going smoothly... I did like every other day :chuckle
