Hey guys, so I'm studying for a stats exam and I am stuck on one of the review problems, so I was wondering if any of you fellow TM3 members can help me out? The question is...

8 different pairs of cards, (16 cards in total), are shuffled and placed face down on a table. After turning over one card, what is the probability that you will find its match with the next card you flip over?

a) 0.0625
b) 0.06667
c) 0.1250
d) 0.1429
e) 0.0312

Thanks, yeah I really was over thinking it :S

Okay one more question...

Suppose that U of T decides to cancel all exams. Instead, instructors are told to use a random procedure to assign grades so that in each course the grade distribution is as follows: 10% of the class receives F, 25% receive a D, 30% receive a C, 20% receive a B and the remainder gets an A. If Moe Curly and Larry all take teh same course what is the probability that moe failed and the other two got a B or better
a) 0.8000
b) 0.0040
c) 0.0123
d) 0.0700
e) 0.8500
f) 0.1600
g) cant be determined from the given information

What i got is 0.10 X 0.35 X 0.35 = 0.0123... Is that correct?

Was sleeping. Yes, it’s correct, if “failed” means only F.
