Hello,
I want to change the muffler on my Mazda 3 GS 2006 for a universal magnaflow polished stainless steel(not the whole catback system, too expensive for me!).
Can someone tell me the most appropriate model for the job. From what I have read so far the specifications seems to be :
Oval muffler : 4 x 9 with a length of 14"; the tube 2.25" (??) but I am not sure if it is centre/center or center/offset. Anyone knows the exact model they have used. From the magnaflow website the model 14325 or 14315 seems the most appropriate.
Can someone point to me which model magnaflow universal muffler they used.
Thank you.

I'm pretty sure I used 11215. 4x9x14 straight through center with 2.25 in/out. Stainless, but not polished.
Where are you installing it, in the stock location? FYI that is where mine is and it used to rattle against the heat shield protecting the gas tank. It doesn't do that anymore though.
EDIT** BTW, if you've been getting your info from some of my posts the muffler likely won't work for your application. I think the stock i.d. is less than 2.25. I installed this muffler on a mazdaspeed accessory cbe.

Thanks for the info Jason; I will get it installed in the stock location. That's why I am looking for the right dimension for the muffler. I was more or less sure the diameter was 2.25" in/out (center/offset) from the many posts. I guess will have to read more. I send an email to magnaflow a while back ... and no reply yet :-(
If I found the answer, I will post. I am sure many people will want to know.

Found this thread (http://www.ozmazda.com/board/index.php?/topic/10980-mazda-3-exhaust-upgrade-guide/) on OZ mazda that indicates stock is 2 inches.

if you're installing on the stock location you MIGHT need to have some custom piping done too to have it welded to the stock pipes. the stock muffler has a wierd angle on one side for the pipe, seems to be on the corner of the muffler and not center or on an offset.

Thanks for the pictures, some custom piping and welding will be required.

I'm in the same boat, wanting to change the muffler to a magnaflow one. When I measured the piping on the stock muffler, it was 1.75 inches and there really isn't that many choices out there with that small a piping. I wonder if that half an inch is too much for Jimmy to just slip the piping over and weld.
