I've noticed this lately, but today it really Shone through. I've read info about rail dust, but 3 years later? There are stone chips on this car, and they are not the issue's I'm showing. This seems at least below the clear coat, I cannot remove it. Seems to have the problem car wide, not just on the metal body parts but anywhere painted, certain areas are perfect (front a pillars) other parts like the front fenders it's widespread.
Anyone know my options as I have a 5 year rust warranty?

That's rail dust/brake dust.
Claybarring will remove it.

+1. Pick up a claybar from our sponsors or a claybar kit from canadian tire and clay your problems away

Clay bar it until your arms can't move anymore, and then go back again. it will take alot of work but it will come off.

Wow, when was the last time you claybarred the car? With the CWP you really need to clay it at least twice a year.

Even though though all that work sounds like a ton of fun, is this a warranty/dealer problem, or mine.
The car isn't exactly pampered like I would take care of it, it's my wives car, it gets cleaned, but I don't think I'll ever see her out in the drive claybarring her car!

you should just claybar it and its a normal maintance to be done to a car

On a 2007, up to you to resolve, or take it to professional detailer. If it were brand new delivery, dealer would likely be willing to do the work.

If you bought the paint protection then it is a dealer problem, otherwise it's something you'll need to fix yourself.

SUPER!!! I've got a spare day or so to fix what the dealer should have. And I've never heard that claybaring is normal maintenance.

You bought CWP, you might as well get used to doing it ;)
Just did mine today, took about 2.5 - 3 hours or so.

I detailed my CWP the second day I got it, and I swear to god more rail dust is attaching itself to my car every day. It never ends! :rant oh well...

Welcome to the CWP club, make sure to stock up on claybar kits when they go on sale.
This is not a dealer problem, all cars get road and atmospheric debris stuck to the paint except that it's more evident on the lighter colours.
Like Melissa said, it never ends. I claybarred and waxed mine two weeks ago and there's already a couple of spots that have stuff stuck to it again.

What color is your Sunfire?
To be clear this happens to ALL light colored cars. It's not a problem with the paint, its a problem with our environment lol.

I have to agree. My Integra had the same problem. One of the reasons I bought Copper Red. The rail dust just blends in and adds another layer of "fleck" to my paint finish. :loco

This is also how mine was before and after. I have to do it again as it's gotten pretty bad again.

Update...
I used a clay bar on my car today to remove these little dots. It was a total pain in the ass as I am a perfectionist and I had to remove every dot!! I'm definitely not doing this again for a while...lol, but it looks 100 times better!
Here are some pics of the before and after...

My car is CWP and it was bad this year as well, not as bad as yours but pretty noticeable. get a Mothers clay bar kit from Canadian Tire. You will have to be meticulous with those very spots when claying and even with the clay bar they are a pain to get out but just be persistent, keep claying over the spots you will them start to fade the more you go over them and pay attention to each panel at a time so you know you get everything. On my GT I knew the small specks were only on the surface from a previous clay session but I also had larger areas that I thought for sure were right through but they weren't at all. These spots may be rust but I promise it is not your car rusting, it's just crap you pick up from the roads. You need to keep up on your waxing, the car should always, always be waxed that is the purpose of the wax to protect your paint. It will make getting the rust/road grime off of your vehicle that much easier come spring time. It's possible if you left that crap on your car for years it may eventually turn into a problem. I commute heavily on the 401 for work and I know that is where I'm probably picking most of it up, every car has it but obviously on white you can notice it more. My car looks almost new again (minus the multitude of front-end stone chips). Wash the car well with a good soap, dry it well. Clay the car next (prob a 4 hour job if it's really bad). Then wax it with a quality wax and your done!

I just spoke with my dealer last night about the same problem! It has been there since the car was new and my dealership is just following up on the problem now. I don't think that this is an environmental problem simply because we also own a white gm and it doesn't have the same spots on it. The only difference is my car is a pearl white where the gm isn't a pearl. If this is environmental why would it chose only pearl paints to attach to. My dealer is refusing to do much about it and told me the same thing about the claybar but I will be taking my car to a paint expert to confirm the specific problem. Also, this is not happening on my bfs silver dodge and the silver is light enough to see if the same flecks are present. I believe this is a problem to mazdas specific paint.

doubt it's mazda specific. I get a few spots every now and again on an Alabaster Silver Metallic 09 Civic.

Im pretty sure everyone here gets them even i do. The brake dust and particles land on the paint then rust. Like every one said you have to claybar the car.

The rail dust is BS, Mazdas excuse for a crappy paint or metal prep. Its the same issue with premature rust on our cars from 2004. Aren't the cars covered with white plastic on the body panels? I have seen cars with it during shipping. As for brake dust, please don't amuse me with that excuse. If it is brake dust then why aren't all colours, except for black not show this so called brake dust.

This issue and the premature rust on 04's, and 05's is separate. The rail dust will be present on other colours as well, however certain colours hide it better than others. One of my family members recently took delivery of a new Honda. Guess what? There was rail dust on that car as well. However, I was expecting that, and had the dealer clay bar, and wax the car prior to delivery.

Where was the Honda made? Alliston?
Rust issues go to the 2006-7-8 also and maybe beyond, rust is rust no matter where it shows up. Have any silver owners seen any rail dust?

No, the car came from Japan, not a Canadian produced car.

Just google rail dust, you will see it's not a Mazda specific issue...
