Stolen car returned three years later with upgrades

April 26th 2010,

Brooklyn school teacher Amanda Pogany was reunited with her 1996 Honda Accord last week, stolen from her driveway back in 2006. However, it's not exactly the car she remembers.

The NY Daily News says Honda was recently recovered by the NYPD during the raid of a chop shop. Amazingly, not only was the vehicle intact, it had actually been upgraded and now sports a -8 engine, manual transmission, custom valve stem caps, oversized tires, tinted windows, and a leather interior. Pogany describes it as looking "like the 'Grease Lightning' car."

According to police, after the vehicle was stolen, it was sold to a car buff who was still in the process of upgrading it when the raid occurred.

Before taking it on the road again, Pogany will need to obtain new registration and a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). She also claims that she'll have to learn to drive a stick shift.

Watch the Video here - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/26/womans-stolen-car-found-c_n_551604.html

NEW YORK (Associated Press) -- A Brooklyn schoolteacher whose car was stolen three years ago has gotten it back -- totally souped-up and unrecognizable.

Amanda Pogany's 1996 Honda was returned to her drag-race ready, with a new engine, manual transmission, leather interior, tinted windows and oversize tires.

Police found the car at an illegal chop shop and were able to trace it to Pogany even though the VIN number had been filed off.

Pogany had given up on ever getting the car back. She hasn't driven the new version of the Honda yet because she doesn't know how to drive a stick shift.

I would sell the car, I don't want to drive the car that's droven by a stranger for 3 years and upgrade can be horrible done.
I will choose money back.
