The problem is you let the dentist do the root canal. Really you should see an Entodonist for a Root Canal. They are specialist, and will be a lot more gentle.

lol yeah these root canal treatments are more hassle on my part than pain. when i had mine done i even refused to get the needle (hate needles! esp. in the mouth!) so i had to endure all the grinding and filing without anesthesia... don't worry you'll be good after that... you're not going to feel pain on that tooth anymore (since it's dead lol)

good luck on the 2nd visit! :)

No way you could have a root canal without freezing. They literally have to open the tooth and remove the nerves which would be impossible to do without pain killers. You're better off being a man and getting the shot.

goodluck!! never had one done =/
i did get all of my wisdom teeth taken out last year !
thank god theyre out now, they felt uncomfortable.
positive: lost a pound or two since all i ate was soup lol
negative: surgeon couldnt find my nerve for the anaesthesia for a good while + i was covered up in dried blood when i woke up + went to ER that night cause i was bleeding like crazy

what happens with the root canal

Haven't been to the dentist in like 6 years, I plan on just letting my teeth rot by the time i'm 30, get false ones, and never have to go again..haha..

I haven't been to see my dentist in god knows when...It's probably time to go for a whitening though. There's a couple cute young hungarian broads at the place I go and I always chat them up when I'm there anyways so ;)

Root Canals are painful though, my dad's had like 3...he hates our dentist with a passion.

i told my dentist i didn't want it, and will ask for it if I can't stand the pain. just don't like needles :chuckle i'll be honest, it was sooo painful without freezing lol but i'm still here... i've had 2, the first one with freezing. in a way i also wanted to feel how it was without freezing... sadistic, i know lol i don't need the extra anesthesia... i've already become forgetful after all that i have received lol

I never have any work done at the dentist without getting frozen....as much as possible and allowable, thank you dental plan! I would advise anyone to get frozen, I had a shallow cavity filled once without freezing and it was one of the worst feelings of my life. Oh ya, I'm deadly afraid of needles too!

Best part of my visits are all the assistants my dentist has....top notch!

i havent been to my dentists in over a year. last time i went he told me i should get my wisdom teeth taken out. after having 9 teeth pulled a few years back, im avoiding my wisdom teeth as long as i can.
however, i should probably go back soon, as i probably have a couple cavities in my mouth.

Did the doc prescribe you any meds? Theres a coworker of mine who just got a root canal and he was hopped up on meds.. And acting off the wall.. But I'm sure it was because he washed them down with a couple of Revvs..
I had some very nasty wisdom tooth pain when they were growing out.. I don't know if that pain compares to root canal pain though.

I lucked out. I was supposed to have 2 root canals done but when it came time to get them done, the dentist started and then was like "There's enough tooth here that we can rebuild it.". Happened both times, which is especially nice since it took the price from like $2000 to $500.

I also won't have to get my wisdom teeth out, as far as I know. I had some teeth in the back there pulled and the wisdom teeth have pushed their way in, pain free.

I'm paranoid. After my first cavity/filling i've been pretty anal about my teeth. Going to the dentist is the worst thing in the world for me. Now I go in, they poke my teeth to check for plaque, polish with that thinger, let me rinse, and I leave. My teeth are immaculate. I pray to god that I never have to endure anything bad at the dentist.

Wisdom teeth were kinda fun though. I had zero swelling, the bleeding stopped before nightfall, and I got to eat lots of popsicles and jello lol.
