My lovely company decided to pay me a few days late, so I got dinged for a $40 NSF for my car payment. I guess lesson learnt on that one, but does anyone know if Scotiabank will try to take out the money again a second time, automatically?

Possibly not sure. But, I'd suggest you get an overdraft for your account.

Same shit happened to me with the same bank. Only my wife compounded the issue by going out to buy brussell sprouts and spent $198. WTF??
I just cleared up that mess today, and thank G that it will not affect my CS.
NO! They will not. You have to call them and grovel.
BTW, WTF does the new meaning mean for the newer version of WTF ? I've always known it as What the Fack.

2 months ago I did the same thing. To be safe I phoned the bank that holds my loan and told them they said to wait a week after they tried to take the payment. It takes almost a week ( 5 days ) for there system to update with the NSF status.

I generally find with charges like NSF or Overcredit limt and etc.... if you ask and tell them the situation they will always reverse the charges.

Whoaaa, NSF is $40 :O so this is automatically CHARGED on your chequings account ?!
TD's NSF is 42.50$ and sometimes if you explain the situation, and if its your first time they might reverse the fees

Just as an FYI, Scotia does not automatically try to go in again. I called their 24/7 customer service line, and they were able to take it out of my account instantaneously. I was billed $0.06/day in interest because of the NSF :(
If you ask nicely they MIGHT reverse it, but we all know that banks arent always the kindest ppl out there. It happened once to me a couple years ago. I broke my foot and couldnt drive to the bank to deposit my paycheck. They reversed it for me lol

^^^^ I don't plan to put myself in a position to need overdraft - it just happened that my company screwed me good.
