Download BumpTop’s 3D Desktop now or forever hold your peace
By Andrew Kameka
Google has just purchased Canadian tech company BumpTop, which makes a captivating 3D desktop. Download it now or you may have to wait months to have a similar experience.
BumpTop is desktop replacement for Windows and Mac that shows your content in a 3D environment. The program, first developed by a University of Toronto student, can create a cubicle-like display of documents, programs, and shortcuts in an interesting manner. While best suited for tablets and touchscreens, it also works with Windows XP/Vista/7 computers.
A message on its website confirms that BumpTop has been sold to Google, and the company plans to stop updating their flagship program. We can probably expect to see the technology pop-up again in Google’s upcoming Chrome OS or maybe in a rumoured Android tablet. Either way, this may be your last chance to snag a copy of BumpTop for your PC.
BumpTop will be available for download this week only, and disappear for the foreseeable future. Visit Bumptop.com/download (http://eol.bumptop.com/download.php) and download the free software before it’s too late.
Here’s a video of BumpTop in action so you can see if it’s worth getting.
