Well, was referred over here from a buddy here in windsor. Just bought a used Mazda 3 sport GS on tuesday. Lovin it so far, i underestimated how fun these cars would be to drive. I have previously owned a 1992 Eagle Talon TSI, 1994 Eagle Talon ESI, 2001 Mercury Cougar, 2008 CaliberSRT4 and my newest is the Mazda 3.

Some recent unfortunate news from my doctor has prevented me from being able to drive a manual transmission, so i had to get rid of my baby (SRT4) but found somethin i liked in this mazda 3. Can't believe how much fun it is to drive an automatic in this car, thanks mazda!

Anyways, seemed like an awesome board to be a part of so i thought i'd join.. I'll upload some pics of it when the weather breaks a bit and i have a chance to clean it up! :headbang

welcome to TM3> post some pictures.

how did u like the power of the srt 4? considering its a dodge (to some ppl not soo good) i really like that car with the large amount of power it can take. my buddy has a black one and at one point had it running at 315 hp. it was soo fast.

zakman,
I really really LOVED my caliber.. I've driven both a mazdaspeed3 and owned the caliber. IMHO regardless what numbers says the CSRT would blow the doors off the ms3 in a straight line.. but if you make it turn, even tho it has macphearson independant front suspension, the speed is still light years ahead in handling. the torque steer in my CSRT4 was pretty bad, and even worse after i put in the mopar stage 1 computer. The S1 computer basically just opens up your turbo in the first 2 gears. it would always linger around 7-8psi in the first two gears and i'd see the guage around 13-14 depending on weather in the higher gears. After putting the computer in my aeroforce guage showed me the difference and it was in the first two gears boost going up to 13psi and the fuel injectors running up at 80% rather than tuned down to 65% they produce with stock computer. Basically the caliber is a sleeping giant waiting for a tuner. Whereas the cobalt SS turbo is already running basically max capacity without replacing turbo, rail, injectors ETC. alot of ppl on the caliber boards claim to have theirs up over 400 wheel hp with no internal work and nothing major aside from higher CC injectors. I'm not sure where the speed is tuned as i'm completely new to mazda and i'm as green as grass when it comes to mazda performance.

The Pro's of the caliber
-Fun as hell to drive
-Absolutely zero turbo lag. Instant response
-roomy to carry shit around
-excellent factory stereo if you got the 13 speaker kicker audio system
-19" rims are gorgeous
-onboard performance computer to check your 0-60 times 1/4 etc.
-big brakes all around to help stop the car
-Independant oil squirters in each cylinder (new for 2008 srt4)
-seats are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and hold your ass in place while givin er!

The Con's of the caliber
-body roll when your turning hard
-torque steer can be extremely dangerous
-car is an army tank, weighs a TON!
-due to the weight i warped front rotors twice in 38,000km
-the rims portrude outside the sidewall of tire slightly, even a slight rub on curb gives your rims some pretty bad curb rash
-the paint is pretty cheaply applied, at close inspection you can see an orange peel effect
-0 weight synthetic oil needed.. COSTLY oil changes

This was all based from my personal experiences.. Some may differ from me but this is what i found in the 2 years that i owned it. All in all it was a really cool car. would i buy another one? HELL YA.. will i buy another one? maybe one day...:thumbsup

here's some pics of it..
i'll get pics of the mazda up as soon as i get a chance to clean it
