I will be going for England and Portugal. Usually I get to cheer on Ecuador as well but they did not make it this time around.
I get to cheer them all on because my background is English and Ecuadorian and my wife is Portuguese.

Allez les Bleus.

But besides them, I'm rooting for whoever is playing against Portugal. I just hate all the fake Portugese (those who claim to be from Portugal, but have barely spent 2 weeks there on Vacation) who do nothing but drive around Brampton when they win with the flag flying.

Going for Chile. Very hard group, lot of latin flare to their group. Chile are the youngest team in this year's World Cup. Swizterland is the wild card in the group. Should the Spainards get off to a slow start, the Swiss just might pull off an upset in this group. Spain is the favourite to win this group but favourites don't usually do well and history has shown neither do the winners of the Euro Cup.

Key match will be the 2nd game of this group between Chile and Swizterland. Should the Swiss hold up to their strong reputation of being a very strong defensive team and pull out the long ball attack on the Spainards in the first game, Swiss just might as well be the surprise of this tournament. In 2006 Swizterland became the only team to get elimainted from the World Cup having not let in a goal, loss in PKs against France. On the other hand Chile haven't won a World Cup game since 1962, their last World Cup appreance was in 1998, and have scored the most goals in South America during the 2010 Qualifers and finished 2nd behind Brazil in Qualifying. Chilean striker Humberto "Chupete" Suazo lead the way in South America as being the top goal scorer during Qualifying.

My prediction:
Spain - 7pts
Chile - 6pts
Swizterland - 4pts
Hondruas - 0pts

As for my World Cup winner, I'm going to pick France to win the World Cup this year. Too much talent in the back and in the middle of the park. Can keep pace with any team in the World. Teams will have a heard time finding the back of the net against them. And it comes down to experience and they have it. Even though they aren't too old or as old as the dinosaurs from Italy, France will come alive after the Round of 16 when they take out Argentina. As I don't think Argentina has the team chemistry to do anything at all defensively in this World Cup. Sure they distroyed Canada 5-0, but Canada is Canada and not a World Class Team. Argentina almost failed to Qualify for the World Cup and lost 5-1 against Bolivia and Lost 3-1 against Peru while Argentina was up 1-0 in the 86' minute of that game during Qualifying.

Brazil will hit the wall against Holland in the Quarters, and so too will Italy against Cameroon.

Final Four: France v Holland & Germany v Cameroon.

I'm going for Srbija (Serbia)... Don't think they'll win but I believe they'll put up a good fight... :)

I really don't care who wins, just as long as it's not porutugal, brazil, or Italy, (I am of portuguese heritage and have dual citezenship) as much as I'd like them to win there are way to many "fools" from those backgrounds that will turn the city upside down. Hell they block streets when they win a first round match! For the sake of peace and quiet I hope that the Ivory coast wins I can't see them having many supporters here, so that it'll be a nice quiet celebration.

Germany it is for me. I am Iraqi, and the last time they qualified was in 1986.

And it is not just SOCCER. ITS LIFE OR DEATH.

!!! I am a bit skeptical about it taking place in South Africa though...I think that's why soccer fever isn't high, everyone is nervous about it taking place there lol.

Ivory Coast FTW! Apparently in a warm up game to the World Cup Portugal tied some unknown country 0-0 over the weekend, too lazy to search the name of the country. Portugal can't score, Brazil will run laps around them along with C. Ronaldo. I say Portugal will be in for a dog fight with North Korea!

Also Fernando Torres ruled out of the World Cup due to injury.

Predictions:
Chile 7pts
Swizterland 4pts
Spain 4pts
Honduras 0pts

Final Four
France v Holland, Chile v Germany

England.

I REALLY want to see England smash Portugal's face in! My girlfriends family is all Portuguese, and I live in Cambridge which feels like little Portugal. You better believe that when England beats their ass I'll be driving all around the city with the biggest English flag I can find poking out of my sunroof!
