View Full Version : Markham Mazda just lost my business
palmpalm

I emailed Markham Mazda a few days ago asking for a quote for a 2010 Mazda3 gx. In reply I was told to sign-in to their website for my personalized quote. When I got there I saw the following message "Details: HI thanks for you inquiry however if you are getting multiple quotes we do not wish to quote at this time thanks"
Wow, just wow. I replied that any smart shopper would be getting multiple quotes and only a sucker would just go to one dealer and pay whatever they quote him. I also let them know that I would be spreading the word about them.

Why on earth would you support that behaviour? Unless they offer you a phenomenal deal I would stay far, far away!
From personal experience... they don't seem to be the best at customer service. After I left, didn't even think about getting a car from them.

I can also say that their customer service is pretty terrible. It was almost as if they completely forgot about me once I signed that purchase agreement. Instead of them calling me to let me know what was going on, I had to keep calling them... They didn't even call me to let me know the car I agreed on was no longer available, I had to call and find out myself. Once my car was ready, they still didn't call me. I once again had to call and find out.
They seem great to you at first, but then treat you like crap once you have already made the purchase (from my experience).
I have a friend who purchased a new car from them a couple weeks after I did, she had a similar experience with their customer service.

I picked up my 3 from them at the end of April. Everything was fine up to when I took delivery. Since then, haven't heard a word from them. Nothing. Seriously considering going elsewhere for service.
Although, up to delivery was good. Had a couple calls about timing for the pickup, had it pushed back a couple hours. -> I was juggling the return of my old lease to GM the same day. But ya, haven't heard a peep from them since. Are some of the issues salesperson related? or do you think this is the whole dealer?
- I have no experience with the service dept. there yet.

Don't bother. I went there for service on my car once and after being quoted around $1200 (or $1100, I can't remember) for an intake manifold replacement, the tech guy who serviced my car came up to me just as I was about to pull out of the parking lot, gave me his business card, and told me he would do the job off-site at his own garage for $500. Otherwise known as soliciting. Just pure shady, in my opinion.

You should contact Jeff the Biz @ Mazda of Toronto and say goodbye to the BS. Search the forums for his contact info - it's almost impossible to miss! :-)

Anyone has experience with their servicing department? This dealer is closest to me but I just heard bad stuff about them. I'm not sure if I should service my car there ....

Just wanted to add that I went there when I was shopping for the speed 3. It took 10 minutes for someone to come "help" us even though I was limping and on a clutch from my knee surgery. The sales lady they eventually gave us came across as a complete air head. I asked about the speed 3 and she took me to their RX-8. She also started on about how the RX-8 is expensive and only have 2 seat (lady, we have eyes that's what the two blinky things on our heads are). It was just really weird.
Anyhow eventually got from her that they don't have any in stock and no offer to find us one or anything. I don't know how it works for Mazda but when I wanted a Sentra SE R they managed to find one for me at Village Nissan even though they didn't have one in stock. It is normal now that a dealer only sell what they have? Cause I got the same "there are none in stock" line for Town and Country VW for the GTI but turns out other dealers have them.
Needless to say we didn't bother to sit down to talk numbers since she didn't even seem to listen to what I was looking for.

It's my understanding that if a dealership does not have that particular car you want on one of their lots, they must either order from the factory OR make a trade with another dealership (which they don't like doing). A lot of dealerships don't share their stock with other dealerships. I assume it depends on the agreements they have with each other.
I went back to Markham Mazda not to long ago for my first service, and while I was there I took a look at the sales floor. I recognized maybe 2 or 3 salesman while I was there, everyone else must have been new. They seem to have a pretty high turnover rate at this dealership.

The dealer i work for we always dealer trade. Its easier to trade cars then to order from factory and tell the customer it will be 2-3 months for thier new car to show. Its not a mazda dealership and their is no need for exposing the dealer either. The only thing I will say is that dealer trading is not always in favor of the dealer as alot of times the prices will be higher then what the car was purchased for from the factory. Goes back to supply and demand

its not so much that they dont want to share but alot of times the pricing will be higher to trade the car and if the dealer already made a deal their is a good possibility they will lose more on the deal heance why they dont like trading cars.

this is exactly the reason why i am pursuing a career in sales at a car dealership. i have heard so many stories where ppl just have horrid experiences at dealerships and i have also encountered terrible service multiple times. i would love to help anyone who wants to buy a new Mazda and make their buying experience a lot friendlier and hassle free. I know Jeff has helped a lot of you guys out; but if you guys are in the richmond hill or surrounding area stop by at Avante and ask for me. ( G or Gautam)
cheers!
PS- im not sure if its only dealerships in Markham; but i bought a car a few years ago from Markham Mitsu and WOW! worst ppl to deal with EVER!!

Previously i was kinda interested in the ralliart but after a visit to Markham Mitsu I had a lot of time to digest things and ended up not going for one. It was simply because of the games the sales there tired to play. I ask him to give me the total cost and he keeps asking me how much I wanted to pay per month. That to me is like calling me stupid over and over. Maybe he thought he was being smart but in reality he was being stupid because after the 3rd time you'd think he realizes I know that's the one of the oldest sales trick in the book? Left a really bad taste in my mouth.

*Most* dealerships use shady sales techniques of one kind or another. My favourite technique is the "no haggle pricing" that a lot of dealerships are starting to do now - they refuse to haggle on price, and act like this is a *good* thing, because it "makes the sales process easier for you" - yes, and you get whatever shitty price they decide to give you on the car! Lol... They act like it's that they're giving you the best possible price, but you KNOW that's not the case.

Yeah social psych guys.
I bought my car from them and went through the whole
"let me speak to my manager"
Obviously by the time we got to that phase, i really want the car...couldn't get away from settling in on a sh*ty price.
Always start from the price that the dealerships get the car for, never work down from a price =)
Anyone have experience with Longman's collision? Since they don't have a body shop...they told me to go there =S

i'm sorry to hear that palmpalm. Whoever it was who told you that I can pretty much guarantee is not working here now.
We have new management here ever since February 2011
All the customer service here is much better now and all the baddies are gone.

You're joking!!!! I emailed 5 different dealers for quotes for my 2010. London didn't give me a quote or even get back to me and I live a 5 min drive from them. The other 4 gave me quotes. Windsor stayed on top of me as did Waterloo. Windsor actually suggested I got to Probart here in London to keep my dealings local, support my local economy. I went to Windsor, not the cheapest price (a couple of hundred more then the lowest quote I got) but the best customer service I have ever seen from a dealership. They offered to bring a car here to London for me to test drive and meet me half way in Chatham when it was time to pick it up. Probart called me a month after I got my 2010 GS to see if I was still interested in buying a car from them when they knew the date range I was planning on buying.
As for Markham, I wouldn't go near them for a new car, used car or the time of day. I'd try and contact the owner regardless and let the owner know what you think of the reply they sent you! What a way to sell a car!!!

I actually went to Markham Mazda a few days ago and they quoted me at MSRP...customer service wasn't that great at all, didn't feel comfortable when we started talking about the numbers, sales forced me to put a deposit down. So I walked.
Ended up going with Jeff at MoT and it was very easy - he gave me all the info I wanted, the lowest price possible and no shady tricks. I definitely recommend Jeff the biz.

May I ask who was your sales person??
On a second note, if you walk into a store to get a quote. Isn't it normal for a person to give you the price that is listed? The cars are built to sell at the price. On a normal note, to buy a car at a lower price is to put an offer in to see what you get.
However, if you just wanted the cost of the car.. why didn't you come look for me instead? and let me know you are from TM3 forum? Would've been simple and easy.

I guess that may have been my mistake but when asking for the lowest price, I was hoping to get something lower than MSRP.
But to answer your question, salesperson was you...
