Not sure whats up with my car, I just got back from the dealership.. it's pouring rain out.. out here in Mississauga and when I parked the car to open the garage.. the exhaust sounded like it was sputtering and bubbly.. and it sounded like the engine was struggling.. somewhat..
Could this be a sign of mild hydrolock of some sort? I avoided all huge puddles and flooded curb lines etc.. I have a hydra shield which repels water and the heat/splash guard.
The car did not sound like this on my drive home from work, then again the rain was just starting and it wasn't pouring as hard it was when I drove up to the dealer.
I let the car idle for a few mins before I parked it in the garage and the exhaust tone/notes didn't change or settle down.
One more thing.. maybe it was the loud rain/air/sound combination playing tricks with my ears??

you might want to check your CAI, maybe it is wet.

So I took the bumper off, checked the filter it was dry as dry can be.. the hydrashield was moist but that's about it.
Just put everything back together and started it up.. there is still a little bit of puttering but not like before.
I was thinking there are 3 air vents in the front side of the wheel we area.. would there be any harm in covering/blocking those?
I'm sure water is getting sucked in there from the tire rotation when your driving in the rain. Wouldn't it make sense to block them?

Some people taped it, but I didn't tape it and I don't have a hydro shield, never had any problems *knock on wood*

Those holes aren't there on the later cars... so go ahead and tape them up. The sputtering may also be caused by damp ignition wiring.... although with the coils right on the plugs this is much less likely than on cars that have sparkplug wires.

This morning the car seem to run fine.. the sputtering was there slightly when I started the car, but once it warmed up it was gone.

Ya I'm planning on taping/sealing them up nice and good this weekend
