So my old employer's VP asked me to send him my CV.

Until this time, I didn't even know what a CV was.. I always just used resumes.

Anyone got a good template or example of a CV I can look at?

It's for a full time job and I don't want to take it lightly since it's going straight to head of department.

Thanks for the help!

CV = curriculum vitae - same thing as the resume just a latin name instead of french

but there are differences from what I gathered.

CV tends to have more focus towards what you want. where resume seems like it's a statement of what you have done and what makes you qualified for the position.

correct me if im wrong. :(

Really, the contents and layout of either of them can be whatever does the best job of letting know prospective employers how awesome you are.

But I always think of a CV being more similar to an artists portfolio, whereas a resume is more akin to a report card. Advertising campaign vs. status report.

kk thanks i guess i'll just take my resume and make it more directed towards the department (technology) and put some of my interests in it too.

Question: Curriculum Vitae vs. Resume?
What is the difference between a curriculum vitae (CV) and a resume?
Answer: The primary differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae (CV) are the length, what is included and what each is used for. A resume is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education. While a resume is brief and concise - no more than a page or two, a Curriculum Vitae is a longer (at least two page) and more detailed synopsis.

A Curriculum Vitae includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details. In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, or Asia, employers may expect to receive a curriculum vitae.

In the United States, a curriculum vitae is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. It is also applicable when applying for fellowships or grants.
