go to mazda dealer - parts department , ask for CX-7 antenna. or if you go to Mazda of Toronto the parts counter guy (flipdaddy) will know what you're talking about if you say "stubby antenna"

also, use the search function its helpful too

You will find that the signal may not be as strong as the whip b/c:

1) It's a stubby
2) If you notice on the whip, it has a wire that spirals around the antenna thereby allowing it to capture the radio frequency, the stubby doesn't have this wire.

I find the the signal is still pretty good with the stubby but not as good as it was with the whip.

If you want the best reception slap on a Mazda 2 antenna.

A Mazda CX-7 stubby will cost you just under $20 tax in.

you can check your radios reception-strength with stock antenna and your new stubby, follow the instructions in this link, not sure your radio is the same as mine, mine is a 2005 single disc player

Before you buy a stubby...check out a VG Sharkfin too. I don't really find any reception difference between the two.

IMO the sharkfin doesn't look that great on the hatch. Plus stubby is the cheaper way to go.

Actually I agree...the stubby is a better choice for a hatch.

How does the 1st gen (GT sedan) antenna come off the car, and how easy is a stubby install?

How does the factory antenna (1st-gen GT sedan) come off, and how easy is it for someone who isn't mechanically inclined at all to put on a stubby?
