View Full Version : Check Engine light after Viper install?
So I got a Viper 5902 installed today, just wondering as to what the check engine light could possibly be related to??
Engine light wasnt on before and car is in mint condition...
Anyone had this issue before?
Gas cap has already been checked

Excuse me for asking, but what does a gas cap have to do with an alarm system?
Perhaps you should disconnect your battery overnight, and reconnect it in the morning. That should clear the codes.
The car probably thinks its being stolen! :chuckle

Check engine light could be caused by a loose gas cap.

You should get someone with a code reader to pull the code for you so you can easily pinpoint the problem. I have a code reader if you want to make the trek out to Guelph, or find someone close to you with one.

Part source will do it for you as well. Buy a cheap code reader off Ebay, that'll get you the codes, but its basic equipment so it won't be able to do much more then that.

make sure its a CAN-BUS one, not all of them work.
Or just do what i did, go to canadian tire, buy one for 299 ( one in a carboard box instead of plastic wrap) this way you can check your codes and return it, and even keep canadian tire money afterwards :P so u get payed to do it :P just be very careful, and have a good story that its not what you were looking for and you havent opened it yet. its important cuz if tehre is evidence of you opening it or using it, you wont get your money back. lol it worked for me.
