I was just wondering, any specific reason as to why the "Location" text box is not displayed in these forums?
It would be nice to know where people are (Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, etc.) without having to go through their profile.
Any chance you can enable this?! :headbang

I believe I saw a thread on this topic when I first joined. The reason is the protect members from the potential of some bad people on the internet.

Yes, here are old threads with good reasons:

I think it should be up to the user if they want to disclose their location.
It makes it much easier knowing the location when dealing in the for sale threads

I will look into it this weekend. I am not sure if it is a user selectable option. If I can find a simple way to allow users to turn location on or off(with default being off), I will put it in place. If anyone wants to help find the relevant vbulletin information to speed up the process, feel free..
Not too familiar with vB but I think you can add a née profile field by navigating to User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field
That's if you want to make a custom one, although I'm fairly sure vb has this feature already built in

I went to their site and there is quite a few versions, so a search without knowing which version of vbulletin may be futile.
What is the exact version of this software? (e.g. 2.5 thru 3.8, 4.0, Legacy, etc.)

If you look at the bottom of every page on the forum it shows the version. Currently we are running 4.0.2 but we will probably be upgrading to 4.0.4 soon. In most cases it will be compatible between versions.

Also looking on vbulletin.org is where you should look for "mods" for Vbulletin.

I think you may be right, but the location box option might have to be activated by admin as per this thread:

I'll keep looking.

I have enabled this feature. If you edit the "Location field in your Profile (under the "About me" tab), it will show up in your Join Date. See mine for an example. :)
