Hi all,
The past week or so I've noticed that from standstill as I release the clutch to go, there's a creaking sound. coming from behind the pedals. Sounds like something needs some grease? It's only noticeable from standstill and if I push the clutch and release while in neutral, I don't get a creak. It's only when in gear and moving from standstill.
Anyone else experience this?

I had a similar experience with my 2007 and it took mazda like 6 visits to fix it. It had something to do with the linkage or a spring of some sort, that connects the clutch if I remember correctly. Mine started acting up 3-4 months after I got the car and it was horrible in the winter time.

I had this problem too. Took it into the dealership (MOT) and they ordered and installed a new clutch pedal assembly (warranty FTW)

With the windows open I can hear mine squeak slightly from the outside. Been like this for about 80,000 kms. Never had a problem so I never took it in. I doubt the clutch is covered under MAP, though. seems like nothing but engine and tranny and stereo are covered under MAP, lols.

I have the same issue. Clutch assembly (or just the pedal) was ordered and i just need to book a date to have it installed. Under warranty of course.

I have the same problem. It doesn't do it all the time. I'm wondering if it's temperature related. I'm over 80,000km so my bumper to bumper warranty is gone :(

I have this as well. I'm getting it checked on my next service. It feels like the clutch pedal is about to come apart and very annoying.

Are the MS3 clutch pedals the same as used in the regular M3's? If so, my 2010 Sport with less than 2000km's on it has the squeaking/creaking clutch pedal! :flaming

So I have an appointment with MoT Friday but I'm getting worried that my problem may be something more serious like a broken engine mount. If I were to let the car roll in 1st gear on it's own, it's making clunking noises and I can hear it in other gears too, just not as easy to hear. I'm going to check the mount under the battery tomorrow morning and I'll also check the rear mount. I hope it's nothing....

Mine creaks fairly loudly (MZ3 Sport) but the clutch pedal feels fine, engagement is normal and no unusual performance. I'm well out of the warranty so unless something goes it's staying. That being said, I will be dropping my tanny sometime soon to replace my 3rd gear synchros so I'll have a look at it when I do that.

So I'm almost embarrassed to share the end of my story but maybe this will help some of you.
Turns out it had nothing to do with the tranny or clutch or engine mount or anything under the hood. I had a few loose wheelnuts and the rims were coming loose. Good thing I took it in when I did or they could have come right off and that would have been a disaster. I'm the one that tightened the bolts too (I tightened to spec with a torque wrench). Lesson learned, I'll check torque again a week after tightening in the future.
I've heard about loose rims and what the symptoms are but it didn't cross my mind with my problem. Oh well, thank you MoT for taking good care of my car again.

under the car and under the engine the clutch lever shaft was a boot around it the boot always breaks and dirt gets in it as well as the tip which pushed the lever shaft always rusts, put some grease between the 2 contact points it helped me when i was getting a squeaking below is the picture of what to look for
http://www.miata.net/garage/clutch/image009.jpg
From the Miata Forums
You might try putting a little grease on the end of the push-rod that moves a lever to your clutch-plate. Put your Miata on jacks, get under the transmission/clutch, and have someone push the clutch pedal in and out. You'll see the rod and lever move. Smear a little lithium-based grease around the point where they contact each other.

Pedal was replaced, still getting the same sound. In my case it's not really a squeaky sound, it's more like multiple click sounds with the clutch is engaging. Any one experienced this?

I've had this happen to me before. They replaced the whole clutch assembly like 4 years ago and it never came back. I belive there is a few more threads on this if you search

i have these problems as well on my 07 Mz3 sport. I've had 3 clutch pedal assemblies under warrantee and the engage button (not sure of the proper name) which sits behind the clutch pedal replaced......it's still there...
When i was in for my 96k at M&D (sponser) they were saying it probably has something to do with a spring in behind the clutch pedal.....
right now i'm just living with it.....but before the noise only arose after long stop and go driving and when it was really hot and dry, when it was wet it would go away.
starting to think it should be Mazda - creak grone creak instead of mazda-zoom zoom zoom

for mw, it's more noticable when it's wet outside.
I've already advised the service advisor that after the pedal replacement the noise is still there. just need to make an appointment and take the car it. Last couple of months have been brutal in terms of taking my car in... been doing it too often and i;m starting to get a little pissed off.

Had this happen while car was still under warranty. Entire clutch assembly was replaced. Then it happened again with the new assembly and replaced again. Now on my 3 rd clutch assembly and it's squeeking again but I am off warranty so just living with it. I am told that it is irritating but does not affect performance.

what year are your cars? I had my clutch release cyclinder replaced by dealership last week in my 2010.. the creeping is much better.. and virtually no vibration in the pedal now.. also, much much easier to shift..
could be that.. but I still have a bit of creeking going on.. would love a solution.. I thought the cyclinder replacement would fix it.. it helped.. but not completed.

the clutch switch has been known to be a noise causing problem... a bit of noise is normal on these cars... the pedal noise might be able be reduced with some grease... other than that, nothing can be really done

glad that took care of it... brake pedal squeeks have been a problem with the 6 in the past... the reason was fluid deterioration and causing the rubber seals in the master cylinder to make the noise... a fluid flush usually fixed that problem
I'd replace the fluid again with something high quality, such as Castrol GTLMA (cheap, relatively easy to get)... flush the entire system... clutch and brakes... these more expensive fluids last a bit better than the cheap crap mazda uses
only other thing to do is to lube the clutch fork, where the slave cylinder pushes on it.... there's not really a safe/easy way to lube the throwout bearing and where the fork contacts it... and definitely impossible to lube the pivot point inside the bell housing without dropping the tranny

Exact same situation here, had QEW Mazda check it out, the tech did a transmission diagnosis, he said he couldn't see a problem, even went for a test drive with him, the noise is certainly there, it seems to be coming from the front passenger side wheel area......

Just came from QEW Mazda yesterday also and had the same problem checked out. They lubed the clutch pedal but the noise is still noticeable. If it gets worst, I was told to bring it back.

Mine is a 2010... It's gotten worse over the past few days. More so with the rain we've been having. Will try to take it in this week. I'm starting to hear it when engaging 3rd gear as well. Before it was only first, then second. Like you said mazidane, it's coming from the front driver side area.
I'll see what the service department says after I take the car back this week.

So Same problem on 2010 speed.. It's either clutch release cyclinder or peddle assembly.. I've had them replace the clutch release cyclender and the problem is better, but still there.. Gonna try the peddle next

Are u sure? Cuz gen 2 speed is hydrolic clutch and I have the same problem.
Also guys, in the gen2, the clutch when depressed hits a switch.. Part of the sensation u get that feels unsmooth is ur pedal hitting the switch.. Just an fyi

Lol shit! Sorry if I'm repeating myself.. I forget which board I'm on sometimes when I'm on the iPhone.. If it's any reconciliation, this problem is posted in other boards by many people as well..
Some needs to solve it and write up a detailed experience thread.. It seems that for some, replacing the pedal assembly works..

So I did another search as the "clicking sound" is getting louder now, again from the front passenger side wheel. Found this thread and a post buy "Pilzz". The problem he describes is exactly what I am experiencing as well, time to go back to the dealer to see if I can get it fixed.

I have a 2011 MZ3. It has less than 500km on it. I have noticed a clicking sound every time the clutch is engaged. Is this normal? Also, sometimes, not always, when the clutch is engaged, I could feel the vibration from the motor(?) revving. This would happen when I engage the clutch after depressing the gas pedal, i.e. therefore revving up the engine. Are others experiencing the same thing?

I'd say clicking is normal and it's probably just the clutch switch activating. You shouldn't have too much vibration coming through the pedal.
