Tinted tail lights for Mazda 3 2010

I'm thinking of tinting my rear tail lights smoked I think Bevil did this using Lamin X film - but I might ask Auto Links to do it for me. Before I move forward, I just want to see what everyone thinks of this as I am still hesitant in moving forward. I don't think anyone has tinted the rear tail lights of the 2010 models (for what I have seen).

So, how does this look?

I think it would look real good, I think the stock tails are what bothers me about the new model. The tint would make a big difference.
Maybe blackout the emblems at the same time :)

I was also thinking about doing this but im just curious how much visibility is reduced. Id really hate to get rear ended by some idiot like what almost happend on the 401 tonight and then the police notice the tint and have that become an issue you know?

+1. Just don't go too dark. Try and replicate the shade in that pic or go a tad bit lighter.

I've been thinking about doing this on mine also but was hesitant becasue of how much the tails protrude from the car. That and I think it means you'll have to blackout the emblems too imo and i'm not willing to do that yet.

Never was a fan of tinting the lights black.

What if I just want the inner lights colored red as well. Is that called tinting as well? Try it, see what it looks like. I've seen STi's with red overlays, they look AMAZING.

i know you can get precut from decal fx.com but ive heard alot of bad things about the precuts!

As much as I don't like the rear lights on the 2010's I still wouldn't go with it IMO I'd keep it clean without any tint.

Looks good ! But yes, don't go too dark. If I remember correctly from the waiting room upstairs in the Auto Links shop, they have 35% and 20% tint for tail lights. Not sure if they carry any other tint percentages.

Definitely get them done by a pro. The angles on the tails are very VERY hard to do.

They don't have pre-cuts. Everything is done from sheets. I go to them b/c they do pretty much all the show cars on the scene and their prices are very reasonable.

Thats my inspiration! Its where I got the idea for red tail lights. Nobody else do it or they... :chuckle

the ride looks good, but no I couldn't tell the lenses were tinted. Looks the same to me... ?!?!?

I'll show you night shots tomorrow night. But to answer your question, there's alot of light that goes through even with the tints. At first, I was concerned about the reverse lights because I use it to back in the garage. Didn't have a problem after the tints since I can still see the reverse lights well.

Ewww nay nay, just take off the mazda 3 and 2.5, the rest is fine. Can't black it out when its already got that CF in the middle of the emblem. Would just look like a big black circle lol

Actually, I think it's easier to see it in the day time now. Before tinting it, it's hard to differentiate the light with the chrome part/other red parts of the tails - so you can't really tell if its blinking or not. After tinting it, you'll only see a dark shade. So when you break or signal, the light it more pronounced through the tints.
