Two stories I cam across over the past week involving Mazda 3's, unfortunately one involving a fatal crash.
First one:
ONTARIO - One man has learned the hard way that speeding along a stretch of Ontario's busiest highway can result in getting no where fast and facing a day in court.
On Friday, July 16th, the OPP allege that 36 year old Cordell Kennedy, of Etobicoke, was behind the wheel of a black, 2010 Mazda 3 when he lost control at high speed in the westbound collector lanes approaching Don Mills Road. Witnesses told police Kennedy was weaving in and out of lanes prior to the collision.
Kennedy allegedly managed to trigger a chain reaction crash that involved 11 drivers and snarled traffic for over two hours while police shut down the highway to investigate. Injuries were thankfully minor and five people were taken to hospital to be checked out.
Kennedy has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle under the Criminal Code and Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. He's due in court on August 31, at Old City Hall for 11 am.
Anyone with further information about this crash are asked to call 1-888-310-1122 or 416-235-4981.

Second one:
ONTARIO - Police are on the hunt for a driver alleged to have caused a crash that resulted in a woman dying of her injuries and put another woman in hospital.
The Ontario Provincial Police say that at about 2:12 pm this afternoon, the driver of a blue sedan, similar to an Acura, entered the southbound Highway 410 at Steeles Avenue in Brampton. This driver immediately cut across all lanes of traffic and entered the left passing lane only to collide with the driver of a silver Mazda.
The collision caused the Mazda driver to lose control of the vehicle and cross into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a Volvo tractor trailer unit.
The driver of the blue sedan fled the scene.
Both occupants of the Mazda, two females, were airlifted to hospital suffering life-threatening injuries. One was taken to St. Michael's and the other to Sunnybrook. Sadly, the driver died of her injuries at 8pm this evening. The other woman remains in critical condition.
Police are desperate to apprehend the driver involved in this incident. The blue sedan had distinctive clear/white turn signals and could be similar in body style to an Acura TL although the OPP aren't sure of the trim style.
Police said there would be significant damage to the vehicle with dents and scratches to the left driver side. Police can't say if the driver is male or female.
Witnesses can call 1-888-310-1122 or call the lead investigating officer directly at 905-278-6131.

Very sad story for the girl that succumbed in the second article, but the guy in the first one is an idiot. Hopefully he isn't on the boards :whoa :headbang
