I'm looking to pick up an electric 1/10th scale R/C kit... What did you think i was getting? :chuckle

I currently own a nitro vechiles (HPI Savage 25, HPI MT2), so i'm looking to pick up a fairly cheap RTR electric on-road racer. I've decided to go with the Tamiya TT01-E Chasis as it seems to be quite popular, and being 190mm body size, i can use a variety of bodies on the kit.

Only question is which RTR kit to buy! I like all 4 bodies.

Also does anyone know of a good shop to buy from? anywhere in Canada doesn't have to be local. I am going to check out Advance Hobbies which is not too far from me, but generally they are always overpriced.

lol sorry Riftler,

This poll is not helping my decision!

The lambo and the GT3 are my 1 and 2 choice so far, but i wonder if the lambo can accomodate the light kit..

I'll check out galaxy, thanks JayJay. I'm going for the RTR. it's a shame you cant get a RTR with a disassembled kit :(

Hey, there's something wrong with the poll. It's showing my only 2 votes for the Z3...

What do you want from the body, looks or aerodynamics? If it's the latter get the lambo, hands down. Looks, pick any of the other 3. I have a 911 GT3 for my 1/10 Serpent. It handles well, but not as good as my Saleen S7 body (similar wedge style to the lambo).

I'm buying an RC car off a buddy of mine. He had a R34 skyline body on there that I've basically wrecked... looking to pick up an R35 body now though.

well, i checked with a few shops it seems like the GT3 orsche body is on backorder from tamiya, they couldnt reallt provide any eta..

I may settle for the lambo, and pick up a GT3 body at a later date..

Thanks fir the links mps, i,ve already checked the majority of those shops getting the same answer... Backordered :(

I voted for the gallardo only because its a lambo if I was buying a Lambo there is only one model to buy an LP640 Murciellago (spelling) black on black with black rims >;)

I ended up buying my kit from Advanced, i was just tired of calling around and it was close.

I went with the Porsche 911 GT3 :)

The kit cost me 189 +tax, didnt buy the RTR version

The kit does not come with Steering Servo, Radio, Reciever, Crystals, Battery

Body is clear as with most unassembled kits.

I managed to pick up a Tx and Rx from RCCANADA.ca (great little forum) for only 30 bucks, mind you its HPI AM but it will do the job.
The steering servo i had a HPI SF-2 high torque servo laying around from my past savage upgrades so I used that.I figure more torque is always a good thing. I should get a s ervo saver though..

I am in the process of painting the body right now, this will be my first trim and paint on a polycarb body.

For the battery i'm not sure what i will buy yet, I have some crappy 7.2v 1500mah ni-cad packs here but I think the car deserves something better.
I'll have pics once the build is complete!

Thanks for all the inpiut guys :)

oh does anyone know of chrome hobby paint and if it works well? the true GT3 has the chrome lip BBS, in the kit it says do not paint . but I prefer the chrome look. anyone know any Tamiya paint codes for a chrome look paint?

Well, about the car is finally done!

Given that this is the first time I actually trimmed and painted a body, I feel the overall product came out pretty well

As an added bonus the kit actually came with an LED light kit, so I have front white LEDs in the headlight lamps and red leds in the rear lights. you can even buy a controller to add up to 32 lights to the kit, and match them to your reciever, this allows you to have turning signals, revrse signal fog lights etc.. The controller is 70 bucks so i'll probably pass on that for now lol

Anyhow... here it is! Tell me what you guys think :) Aside from a messed up windshield sticker I think I did a good job!

Looks clean. I have the same body in red/silver w/ CF hood. You should lower the ride height.

omalak

I was trying to lower it a bit more, but it looked as if the rear wheel well was rubbing with the tire in the back if i drop it down 1 more notch.. :/
