I was just about to mention this.:whoa
For people that were successful last year, where did you go?
Does anyone have any ideas about places locally (gta) where this can be seen?
Edit: I really don't want to drive another 1+ hours to see nothing, like what happened with the Aurora Borealis.:bang:whoa:loco:complain:rant:sad

I've never witnessed one but I would assume the best spot would be by the lake.

I'm hoping one of those spots is in my backyard (ie, just look up)..

Take country roads. Good areas to go would be Milton or Brampton (North of Mayfield).

You should see it anywhere in Southern Ontario. Light pollution is usually the killer, the further away from the metropolitan you are the better. Hamilton/Dundas would be perfect.

Me and my buddy saw about 8 in a span of 30 minutes! I drove on the 410 Northbound past Mayfield and stopped once we reached Hwy. 10. It was nice!

You can catch it again next August :D
The famous Perseid meteor shower, a big astronomical crowd-pleaser, peaked Thursday night and into the early hours of Friday morning.
Conditions promised to be particularly favourable this year because there would be no moon interfering with the fireworks display.
Up to 30 to 60 meteors per hour were expected to be visible from the West Island and up to 120 from a dark sky.
You can expect to see about half that many Friday night.
The best way to see the shower is to lie on the ground or a reclining lawn chair facing the northeast sky.
Most of these meteors are the size of a grain of sand and are travelling at about 150,000 kilo-metres per hour, burning up at about 100 km above your head.
The Perseids get their name from the constellation Perseus -where the shooting stars seem to radiate.
The meteor shower originates from a cloud of particles in space that was shed by a comet that orbits the sun.
Every year at the same time, Earth slams into this cloud of debris, creating a cosmic shower in the heavens.

Went to the bluffs last night and saw quite a few! Very beautiful and lucky the sky was clear and the stars were out.
