View Full Version : Nu-Finsh Once a Yr Polish
Reading about this topic, many opinions, some use it like wax, some say its not good! What are your opinions?
I personally used Nu-Finish on all my past cars before my mz3 and i loved it!
Now my question is : Can i use meguiars quik detailer after the Nu finish?
My thought process:
Wash
Clay Bar
Rinse
Nu Finish
Detailer
Is that alright?

Always follow a polish with a wax.

you don't have to wax after polishing, doing so just adds depth of shine. as long as it's a decent quality polish, it'll protect the paint fine without a wax.
my only gripe with nufinish is the residue from when it hazes. even if you think you've buffed it all, the next time you wash the car, more will come off. it does last a very long time, but maybe not a full year. in my experience it's been closer to 6-8 months with a wash one a month. but for $10, that's some pretty good bang for your buck.
Well after the Nu finish, would you reccomend the meguiars quick detailer or the meg. quick wax?

I personally think there are better products than Nu Finish. Especially if your already going to spend the time claying, you might as well lay down a good wax or other all-in-one product (Optimum Poli-Seal, Klasse All In One). The good thing about Nu-Finish is that its widely available wherever you may be. I personally haven't used it so I really can't comment on its viability however I've heard mostly negative anecdoctes about it.

i haven't used the stuff but on the weekend i did a meguiars clay, klasse all in one, klasse sealer, & a meguiars wax even today after that big rain yesterday & doing a 3 hour drive in the country in the muddy rain lol the car still looks like it was just washed:)
With all that work i would hope it would still shine! As for Nu finish itself, im definetly going to continue using it. Ive been using it for a good 10 years now and am happy with it. Not to mention the price of it compared to other waxes etc.
But if you HAD to use Nu-Finish, would you apply meg's quick wax or quick detail after?
Thanks!

klasse is so bomb. that's probably why it costs so much though :(

I've just bought some recently.... I stood there for 20mins trying to guess who's better. Since I used Nu years (& years) ago on my old 87 Audi Coupe GT, what the heck, it made her smooth as butter. so I did the 3, easy on/easy off, but not so smooth as butter anymore like 16yrs ago. Although I also did the 3 coated in Turtle synth spray....
I thought about givn' her the bar, but I only need one... not paying $30 for 2. I dunno... one day my 3 will be smoooooooth. I guess as long as salt doesn't stick to it in winter is all that matters.

.
Keep in mind a Polish cleans, adds gloss and often will fill in swirls. A Polish is not designed to protect. Some polishes have waxes or sealants in them but that makes them an "All-In-One" product. The wax is what protects your vehicle while adding gloss and depth. Skipping the wax will short live your polishing results.

^oops, I said polish and meant sealant. which is confusing because NuFinish is both. good catch
