better with your hands.. cause if you dont know what your doing you will get swirl marks if you put too much pressure.. hand is safer IMO.

Machine can get a thin even coat all around. But if your good with your hands you can do the same, just more effort and time consuming. Key is several thin coats will be stronger than one thick coat (since most of that extra wax will be "waxed off")

Most swirls you see in people paint is caused by in proper washing
Make sure you let the wax dry before wiping it off...Only when using compound you wipe it off when it still wet

I apply wax with hands(body temp melts car wax, which makes the wax easy to apply evenly), then buff it off with a machine.

There are some articles up at e-shine.ca that could help you out.
Less is more when it comes to detailing a car. Putting it on too thick is not only a waste of the product but also a waste of time to get it off.

I wax by hand...it's more time consuming but you can still get some great results.

Always by hand for me, and I think most people make the mistake of putting wax on way to thick, it is just a waste and doesn't accomplish anything "more", just way harder to buff off. I use meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax liquid, it's an amazing product and is super easy to buff off by hand, but I never had much trouble buffing off any brand by hand.

I've used both and it just depends on time. But I find applying by hand is just as well and one needs to use hand to reach the areas the buffer can't get into.

Waxing by hand shouldn't take too long. 1-2 hrs tops.

I waxed my car once and I did it by hand even though I bought a buffer. Nothing prides you more than a shiney car with a sore arm after a good workout
