View Full Version : Connected two terminals on battery
Hi,
I accidentally connected the two battery terminals together with a wrench when I was installing my SRI. Sparks flew around etc, is there any damage to the electricals at all? Just want to confirms with other members.
Thanks.

Ya. The car started fine afterwards and everything worked though. But when I start it up there's a hissing sound...

Probably okay... since you didn't manage to weld the wrench to the battery you couldn't have bridged the terminals too long.
Next time.... get a shorter wrench or drop a cloth over the +ve terminal!

The OP said he was installing his SRI and probably had that piece removed.

I understand, but it doesn't make a lot of sense having the cover off, nor working anywhere near the battery

mind you, the hissing might be from the SRI too...

Yeh. I was thinking he was disconnecting the battery.... y'know -- the instructions for most anything that touched the car's wiring tells you to disconnect the battery: sparkplugs, light bulbs, SRIs...... :)
