Despite having my account almost three years now, I didn't have a Mazda3 (although I was, and now am, CdnMazda3)
Just bought a 2006 Mazda3 GT Sport, 74000 kms from Avante and I pick it up Thursday.
Great car...
Question about the factory rustproofing - it is $895 and there is six years of coverage with it.
I don't know if I really intend to keep that car six years but is it really worth it at resale?
(If there are any threads in the forum that pertain to this question you guys know about, drop me some links and I'll check them out)

The car is four years old now - had it been done new I could see $895 justified over ten years, but at six that's a lot of money.
Are there any studies that indicate a car that's rustproofed with a factory vs. Krown has a higher resale value?
I know my 1992 Corolla that was eight years old when I bought it, never rustproofed, and I got six years out of it when I think it would only have had three or four if it wasn't rust proofed.
What about leather conditioning from the factory? Rip off?

Congrats on your purchase!
Can't see there being a significant resale value difference between Krown and factory rustproofing being done, but I have no studies to back that statement up. Is the factory rustproofing price taxes in? Regardless, Krown comes out cheaper at about $100 and taxes annually.

Thanks man - I pick it up on Thursday!
Tested out a Corolla too and it had NO power compared to this thing. Displacement makes a difference.

Would go with Krown. New would be OK to do the factory rustproofing for 10 years but not 6.

Definitely go with Krown. I can't imagine anybody caring if you have Krown or Factory rustproofing if you're doing a private sale when you sell it in a couple years... And if you're trading it in, they'll probably care even less. :)

if it was a new car then factory with lifetime would be a better choice, but krown seems like the cheaper option, but you need to spare an hour or so every year?

Thanks guys! I have to say the car drives amazingly well - very little understeer compared with my old Corolla and my Civic.
Love driving it.

Hard to justify on a used car. I'd stick with the crown treatment.
