I'm thinking about tackling the FMIC install myself this week end. I understand I'll have to drain the coolant and change a rad hose, which I am ok with, but what about the steering pump fluid cooler? Should I bother taking it to Jimmy? I'm kinda short on cash so I'd rather not. I'm not inept at all, just never fooled with the power steering before other than flushing it out and putting new fluid in.

Do I need special Mazda only coolant and/or power steering fluid, or can I just pick it up from Canadian Tire?

Also, how do I drain and fill the coolant on our sealed rad system? I've only ever done it on the traditional style.

You shouldn't need to drain anything to do a FMIC install unless you got some freak of a FMIC.

PM me what you got and I'll see if I can send you some pointers. Just helped a friend install one.

I'm guessing it's a CPE FMIC hence the need to drain fluids.

Alright, I got it in! I had to do some "modifications" to my stock air box to get it to fit. Barely fits, took me about 30 minutes just putting the air box back in.

I love the FMIC so far. No more losing power sitting in traffic. I also don't get the snapping of my head back into the seat when I hit the gas. It's more of a gradual pressing back now which I like. I thought it was slower at first cause I didn't feel it right away, then I saw how fast my speedo was going up and just thought "oh damn...". Next mod for sure will be an intake of some sort. I had to cut off the stock air box mount/foot thing that sits closest to the front bumper and the FMIC pipe still presses against the air box enough for deform it a little bit. Was aggravating to get the air filter in and cover on properly, haha.

Oh yea, and there's no reason for pictures. This kit was powder coated black and you can't see the IC from the front unless you stick your face down by the ground right in front of the bumper. It's a great stealth set-up. I love it.
