View Full Version : Paralegal recommendation to fight a speeding ticket
Can anyone recommend a good paralegal in Toronto /GTA to fight a speeding ticket?
The ticket is for 75 on a 50 zone. The officer used a laser.

just take it to court..im pretty sure they can reduce it so that no points are taken off.
Jason Pearce 416-868-0088 a few ppl on this board used him with good results

It was already reduced to 65 kmh (no points) on the ticket but may be increased to 75 at the trial. My concern is getting a conviction (which may increase my insurance premium) and not points. Sorry for not being clear in my original post.

Take Option 3.... Plea Not Guilty, if it's your first offence you should be good.

when you renew.. it will go up regardless of points.
from what i've been told from insurance agents... it's the number of times you are caught.. not the point deduction.
so.. unless you can get the whole ticket thrown out... there's no point fighting a "no point" ticket with paralegal which may cost you as well.

Call downtown office and ask for Forch.
Don't listen to anybody or do anything ypourself till you speak with him. And call ASAP - time is very important!
They are the best. Period. Proven record - many MANY times. Tust me - on motorcycle you got speeding tickets way more often... And my record is still crystal clean - tnx to them.
Good luck!

paralegal from my experiences is a waste of money for a minor ticket that you have. If there are no demerit points involved and you don't get it thrown out, it still works against you for insurance. Just fight the ticket yourself, which shouldn't be too hard in the GTA area since cops are much more busy (i.e. defer the ticket).

Take the ticket to court yourself, don't bother with a paralegal. Chances are, you won't be able to get it reduced considering it was reduced at the road side.

Paralegal basically just show up for you and take the prosecutor's offer for you. You can do the same thing yourself and cost you only time and few bucks for parking than few hundreds bucks to a paralegal and since you already getting the ticket reduced, chance are you will win if cop is absent or you lose if he is here.
Be a man, show up and face it.

Hey Man,
I have gone to trial previously on several tickets and have lost all of them. Every time the officer showed up. It is unlikely an officer would not not to show up, as he/she has several cases scheduled, unlike the old days. It is unwise to expect the officer not to show up.
This will be the second date for this ticket. I got it adjourned at the first hearing due to to lack of disclosure.
Could you could advise me on the following:
1) How can I use the s.11(b) defense (any person charged with an offense has the rightto be tried within a reasonable time) ?
It is about a year since the offense. Is one year delay unreasonable? Do I need to submit special application under s.11(b) or can I merely say it to the JP at the trial.
2) If s.11(b) does not work, how can I challenge the laser? Is calibration required for the laser? How often? What are the other questions I should ask the office to determine whether he has properly used the laser and targeted me correctly?
I assumed a experienced paralegal could help me, but I now see that I am mistaken.
Man, please help!

I used some Asian guy at Times Square in Richmond hill.
I don't have the contact on me right now but PM me if you're interested.
Was a stop sign ticket and the charge was withdrawn. Whether it was because the officer didn't show or it was something else, I don't know.
pm me if you want a contact in Markham
He got me completely off a serious ticket, i was lucky cops made errors on the paperwork, but even if there wasn't mistakes he would have at least gotten it reduced
he was also cheaper then all those traffic ticket places
