I checked and couldn't find any posts, but what is the best way to paint the center caps for the Rims, should i just sand a prime it or soak in bleach and then paint like the other symbols on the car?

I painting mine about a month ago. Primmed twice, then painted twice (24hours inbetween each).

for my winter setup, i want to make my lugs black, centercap black, and emblem silver (like the rim)

should i paint, spraypaint, or just plastidip them? what will hold up? i would like it to last at least through 1 winter, since it would be crummy to have them fall apart half way through the winter.

FYI, the logo pops out (unless you have a really really old center cap like mine, i think it was off a Protege). You can paint the back of the center cap separate from the logo itself.

Just pops out. Try not to break the clips but you'll probably break a couple. No priming necessary. Just use a good spray paint. Three or four coats every 1/2 hour should be OK.

You can actually buy painted black center caps with chrome emblem from Flipdady at MOT.

I had troubles when I did mine too. I ended up getting a small flat head screw driver and pushing really hard to get them to come out. They will come out eventually. I think i only broke one on each cap, but they're still holding up perfectly fine.

I popped the emblems off of mine with a small flat screwdriver and a whole lot of time! For paint I just scuffed them with a scotchbrite cloth and then used Krylon Fusion satin black spray paint. They've been on for two summers and still look good!

Don't mind the snow in the pictures... this was the test fit after I got the new tires mounted!

thanks guy. i just poped all my emblems off... and didn't lose any clips!!! i took a small flat head screwdriver and just put pressure onto the clip, slightly bending the metal clip part enough that itll slide out. took about 20 mins id guess.

so did u guys use the same paint for the lugs, caps, emblems? im wondering since the lugs are metal, the caps are plastic, and the emblem is chrome plastic. walking in the spray pain section today got me confused.... gloss, satin, matte,,, primer, paint,,,, metal, plastic, etc.

I bought my lug nuts black... I don't thinking painting the chrome ones would last long.

I didn't paint my lugs. They are that colour.
There are many types of paint. I chose a glossy paint. Most people use Krylon spray paint. I used Rustoleum from Home Hardware.

I think I have 1 clip left on all my emblems haha...

Jackal the black calipers with red look amazing... Mine are red with white writing and they're already so dull and covered in brake dust.

I also used Plasti dip on the center cap emblems.

if anyone is worried about the clips and its ability to hold the emblem... i found it harder/tighter to get the emblems back into the center caps after i sprayed both the emblems and the center caps. getting some overspray on the emblem clip and on the center caps holes created a tighter squeeze, im not sure if the full clip would be needed with enough overspray wedged inbetween.

That's actually a good idea. Thank you!
