23 cars vandalized with baseball bat in west end

The number of cars vandalized with a baseball bat overnight continues to grow as officers now put the count at 23 bashed cars, up from the 19 counted earlier on Wednesday.
The cars were found on Crawford and Clinton Sts. between Bloor St. and Dundas St. W.
The first call came in around 3 a.m. after a passerby noticed the damage and called the police to the area of Crawford St. and Dundas St. W.
Some of the cars had the windows smashed, while others had dents in the doors after being whacked by the bat. A few had side mirrors ripped off and many had scratch marks in the paint, said Const. Tony Vella.
“The owners of the vehicles are upset,” he said. “We’re doing everything possible to provide them with some justice.”
According to the initial investigation, there is no evidence to suggest the damaged vehicles were targeted but police are concerned their may be more victims. They are urging nearby residents to check their cars.
Alcohol is being considered a factor in causing the “silly” behaviour, said Vella.
Two men and two women have been arrested in connection with this spree of vandalism.
The names or exact charges laid against the suspects have not yet been released, but police are saying they are within the ages of 18 and 22.
