Hey guys,

Question about insurance for new drivers: When do insurance companies start charging insurance for new drivers? G1? or G2?

Thanks!

G2. When the person is able to drive on their own.

G2. When the person is able to drive on their own.

but if you have a G1 driving while your in the car you should/need to tell them you have a G1 just so they know but they wont get charge anything

I'm a bit conflicted. What SFW says sounds logical, however I remember when I was shopping for insurance as a new driver, apparently my parents declared me to be covered as a G1 driver - thus extending the period which I've already been covered under a valid insurance policy, by a year.

I have a question similar. When someone has G1, they need an experienced driver to sit beside them right?

Is that 4 years of just G? or can it count from 4 years from G1 or G2?

Thanks guys. I wanted a little info before I called my insurance company and then finding out that I'd opened a can of worms as soon as I talked about it.....

Ditto. From what I remember you don't HAVE to be listed as a G1 driver, but it's relatively cheap and gives you more history.
