Hey there,
I've been searching the forums about programming a remote for my 2007 Mazda3 Hatch. I had no problem finding the instructions (here: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?32033-Reprogramming-Key-And-Fob&highlight=remote)
My problem is that the remote I got off ebay will not respond to the programming sequence, and I just put a new battery in to be sure.
The numbers on the back of both the remotes are the same (both the one I got with the car, and the one I got off ebay):
Visteon Model 41846
FCC ID: KPU41846
IC: 4238A-41846
Anyone have any suggestions? Also, can anyone confirm if, even with all the same model/serial numbers, this remote may not work with a hatch but with a sedan instead? Lastly, would someone be willing to post up the numbers that they have on the back of their remote for their 2007 Mazda3 Hatch?
Thanks for any suggestions and help!
Josh

I followed those directions and it worked perfectly for me.

After you have cycled the iginition key 3 times and then opened and closed the door 3 times do the door locks lock and then unlock? If not then either you are doing it wrong or something is likely wrong with either the drivers door switch or the actuator itself.

You need at least 3 remotes (including the new one) to do the programming yourself.

no you don't, it will work with just one remote

Maybe the ebay remote has different guts inside? Very easy to switch the circuit boards from another remote.

Oh, OK. Guess it's different from the 2010's.

FLIPDADY, that's what I thought at first too, but after opening both remotes the circuit boards look the same, except one has a couple more letters in one spot, but there aren't any more joints or anything.
The whole programming sequence works, up until not responding to my new remote. The car responds after all the dancing with the ignition and drivers door, so I'm pretty much guessing that the remote I got, for some reason, just doesn't want to work with my car even though it has the exact same numbers on it.

I think you are confusing programming the keys (require 2) compared to programming the remotes (require 1).

Sorry to revive the thread. This same problem is happening with a coworker's 07 car. It's preowned.
The only difference I see is that the car doesn't lock/unlock when the key is not in the car.
Rapster - did you manage to find a solution? LMK thanks.

Hey Prime,
No, I wasn't able to find a solution. My guess is that the part numbers for the hatch keyless remote can be different, even for the same year. Every time I look on EBay for a '2007 Hatchback' remote the remotes that come up have different part numbers than the one I currently have which works with the car. It seems the one that came with the car is always listed as the part # from an 04-06 hatchback. If I can find another cheap one on EBay with the different part number (listed as working for an 07+) and it works I'll post up the info.

I have the same FCC number, etc. of 41846 and the original remote works with my 2007 Mazda3 Sedan. I also bought a second remote from Ebay. The original remote responds well, but the new one does not, while trying to program them both.

the reason it won't work is because 07-09 canadian 3s have a completely different keyless system from the US... matching FCC numbers alone isn't going to work!
the canadian remotes are different inside and the receiver module inside the car is also different

I believe its the same for the '10s. I can't get my FOB to program either...

@ TheMAN, one remote I bought WAS from a Canadian seller, so it's strange that I wouldn't have worked. At some point in time I'll pick another one up off Ebay with the different model number, but still listed as working for an 07 Hatchback and see if it works. If I can't get any of them to work once I get up to 50 forum posts I guess they'll be getting posted in the Buy/Sell forum.

I ordered 2 key fobs from carandtruckremotes.com and they have visteon model #: 41794
I tried the programming sequence as well with no success.
What's the deal?
I have a 2004 Mazda 3 Sport.
