I try going over them really slow but after I can still feel this rocking motion in the car.
Is this normal or something wrong?

i got it on Thrusday last week. Only a few days old. Hopefully this isn't a repeat of my Nissan experience where the car was in the shop almost every other month.

Sounds like you are going over the speed bumps with the car in gear. That rocking is the engine rocking back and forth.

Interesting. I didn't know that was an issue....

From my experience it is... What ends up happening is that you hit the speed bump and the car all of a sudden deaccelerates which causes the engine to jerk and the fact that the engine mount is soft causes it to continue rocking because of the jerky motion that the car experiences over the speed bump. It'll evenually fix itself or when you press the clutch in.
What I do over a speed bump is to feather the clutch without leaving it fully engaged.

could it be your shocks are dead? is it new or used?

Car is brand spanking new. I have only drive it since last Thursday.
The rocking motion happens even when I feather the clutch over a bump. It also happens during shifts sometimes when I am not completely smooth. But harder to tell when the car's going since you get all the other road bumps.

first one I drive everyday yeah. Drove around in a mini S 3 years ago when a friend went back to Hong Kong and was unable to get rid of his lease. But I drove that like once a week. So basically not entirely new to it but yeah I'd categorize it as my first standard car.

Thanks for being honest. I'd just try different approaches and see what works for you. But everyone knows that the stock mount is very soft to keep the vibrations down and the ride comfort up. Wait till you try to drive the car fast. Lol.

Yup speed bumps are definitely not our friends, but do not worry brother G you will find the sweet spot between speed, brake, clutch and throttle. Also there are speed bumps which will cause you to bite your tongue clean off if taken at the right speed:whoa, then there are the dreaded speed humps when taken at the right speed will cause you to catch air, bottom out, and cringe as you leave a trail of sparks and a gouge in the pavement forever leaving your signature on that street.:flaming
Hope you are enjoying your new ride, black 2010 speed 3 if I remember correctly, I"ll be picking up my new speed 3 also black soon, hope to see you around.:)

Thanks :). Please stay back till say a month or 2 from now. I hate the pressure of people tail gating me while I learn to drive. I leave good amount of room when I drove an auto why don't other people?

It is pretty soft if nothing's wrong and I am feeling this. I have never felt anything like it before even when I was learning on the mini S or my old car which I took some bumps pretty fast.

You'll get used to it. You can always get an upgraded engine mount but the stock mount definitely makes you a better driver. Haha.
