Boo, What a great coach he was...hard nosed, hated by many of his players, but highly respected by all.

In contrast to several erroneous reports earlier in the day, former NHL head coach Pat Burns is alive,

Burns phoned TSN on Friday.

"Here we go again," said the three-time NHL coach of the year. "They're trying to kill me before I'm dead. I come to Quebec to spend some time with my family and they say I'm dead. I'm not dead, far (expletive) from it. They've had me dead since June. Tell them I'm alive. Set them straight."

A report on Thursday suggested that Burns' condition had taken a turn for the worse.

The 58-year old has returned home to Magog, Quebec to be with his family.

Ex-Leaf coach Pat Burns has died, says Leafs advisor Cliff Fletcher.

Burns was at his home in Magog, Que., battling cancer. He had refused chemotherapy treatment.

“He fought a valiant fight,” said Fletcher.

Burns was a three-time coach of the year, and was the coach of the Leafs - hired by Fletcher - when the team returned to respectability with long playoff runs in the 1990.

“Pat combined both toughness and compassion,” said Fletcher. “He was the softest person you'd ever meet.

WTF! How brutal is that!!

Cheers to him being alive still! Though he is in pretty bad shape still.
